F6B
« on: January 12, 2018, 08:00:36 AM »

Well, I thought I didn't want one until I saw a couple in person at the DRU this past year. That changed my mind.

So yesterday I made a 7 hour drive and bought a new 2016 F6B Deluxe in Matte Silver. She will wait at the dealership until the weather breaks on a day the wife and I are both off work, then we'll bring her home. In the mean time I'm studying the manual and trying to learn all I can about the intercom system and other interesting bits while the dealer installs some farkles for me. The 2016 Deluxe includes electronic cruise control, heated grips, passenger back rest, center stand and self-canceling turn-signals which supposedly work pretty well. The Matte Silver means my days of waxing a motorcycle are over with the exception of the wind shield. The dealer had put a larger tinted shield on it before I bought it. I had him add the taller screen with vent and I'll take the tinted one with me for warm weather use when I bring her home.

Thought hard about the new wing and I do really like it, just not enough to spend that much money on it. And, I'll admit, the advertised "aluminum cylinder liners" on the new wing spooked me somewhat. I also thought this would be the time to get a deal on the remaining old style 1800's and it was.

So far it looks like I can't tie my Zumo or phone into the hardwired intercom system. If anyone knows differently please advise. I've wondered if I could add a "dongle" to the hardwired system to tie in bluetooth devices? As much as I like the Zumo I think google maps on a smart phone works as well or better for GPS duties.

Congrats on the new bike. I guarantee you will be impressed by its handling and power. Many improvement over the last 20 years of motorcycle technology!

As far as Bluetooth integration you have many options available. Many go with the Sena system.

J &M also have a plug and play system for the Goldwing.

Some of the Gold Wing owners I ride with use the following, you might want to look into it if you do not want to switch over to bluetooth

Congratulations on your new ride.  I have the 2015. Great bike for sure.

I added a honda factory CB to mine, so I'm hard wired to the bike with a headset and microphone.

I do use a gps sometimes,  so what I did was I made the bike bluetooth. I just used my old bluetooth headset, removed the microphone part, and then I plugged in the stereo connector located in the left cubby, into the bluetooth headset plug. This is for the GPS only. Not for my cellphone.

I just use the auxiliary bottom to switch between device input.

If I used a bluetooth headset in my helmet I would not have an issue using my cellphone.  I just dont because of my CB.

Something to remember,  is there is a thumb drive connector located in the left side case. Load a ton of your favorite music on a thumb drive and plug it in.

Enjoy, be safe

The same thoughts have crossed my mind but my wife wants a slingshot really bad after the ride stephanie gave her at the DRU. I think it is time for her to get a toy of her own. I can wait a few more years.

I have an F6B with all my stuff Blue toothed to my headset.
 I you buy a sena headset 20s
A sena I think it is called a  fire wire you can have all the music from bike.
    Your ohone
And your GPS and CB all to your headset.
Honest it works , thee only thing is do you travel with groups that use CBs?
Sena just came out with the Fire wire so people could receive as well as transmit
by way of blue tooth in the last two years or so.

Does the F6B have an AUX button? If so; there should be a 3.5mm stereo input jack under the left fairing pocket. I have an '05 wing and that's how my Garmin is plugged in.

Ya there is one in the left pocket.
That is where my XM  radio is.
Most of the newer  GPS units are now blue tooth so what is done is you pair your phone
to the GPS and then the GPS to your headset.  That is the way it works with the Sena units.

I told Mel I was glad she didn't take a ride in the slingshot at the DRU.

When she asked why I read her your post.  Grin

I am starting to feel that my F6B is like my old 99 tourer.
