Woke up to Leaking Petcock

Woke up this morning to figure out why my seat wouldn't unlock and it turns out the petcock is now leaking, when I had it turned off.



Any ideas? It did get down to single digit temperatures last night for the first time this winter, when it's normally been in the 40-50's.

I think it's leaking from the gasket, but I'm not sure. I will have to go back out and look.

Is there a rebuild kit/aftermarket petcock that people recommend?

In your picture I see what looks like two spots of silicone. The reason I ask is it could have been part before and someone tried sealing a leak with silicone.
Many here use the pingle manual petcock. You can also get a cover set for your OEM petcock and rebuild it.. Myself after almost 21 yrs on my bee it still has the factory petcock and hasn't been touched. My IS also has the original stock petcock and she is 19.

This is the rebuild kit for the Valk (OE) petcock.

It is an item that you should always have on hand, so if ordering one for now, order two for peace of mind.  (both my petcocks have been rebuilt once 4ya, but I keep spares too)

Although your leak (if it is a leaking petcock) could be unrelated to this kit.

I believe those that have tried them have declared them to be junk.

In the picture it looks like the fuel line is almost disconnected

Finally managed to get my seat off today. After taking a closer look, it looks like it's coming from the cover set. None of the lines looked to be connected very well, so I tightened them up as well.

Slowly getting her back into shape!

Mine leaked for the the first and last time 15 years and 100k miles ago when I replaced it with a Pingel valve. Quality is far above, and no worry about hydrolock.

Having a manual Pingel does reduce the chance for hydroloc if you develop a reliable habit of turning it off.  It's still possible to get a lock if the perfect storm of carburetor problems and corresponding piston position happen perfectly

Turns out my petcock only leaks when it's in the off position.
