Opposed the welfare bill
And was thus wrongfully branded a.racist
To the shame of his party
Here is a quote

The liberal left can be as rigid and destructive as any force in American Life

I question both sides...who gains from each fight...who benefits from each allegation...who will do anything to deflect accountability

You CAN recognize trouble and defeat it.if you are willing to question assumptions.. Oss

Thanks, Oss. For people with a truly sincere desire to do the 'right thing' and to find 'genuine truth', labels appear to be nothing more than a weapon used to stifle and/or quiet disagreement.  Politics is indeed a dirty business designed for the acquisition and maintenance of power... governance is merely an aspect of 'marketing' to bolster the image of the 'product' to further the real aim.

Senator Moynihan was a liberal Democrat... He also struck me as a person who did care about 'doing the right thing'. We often drew different conclusions on specific issues, usually more in terms of degree than polar extreme, but I always respected his points of view and seeming interest in making things better. His logic appeared sound, and his contributions are sorely missed.

I considered him to be among the last group of 'statesmen' in congress during the transition to our present time (or return to previous times) of overwhelming demagoguery and moral prostitution. Your commentary and quote of his make perfect sense to this sadly disillusioned spectator of the spectacle goin-on in our capital these days...

See ya down the road...

Oss and DDT,  Solid words those.  In fact the best political talk I have heard in a long time.  My policy is to always be observant and to question motives.

We could use more like him. On the other side of the spectrum Barry Goldwater struck me also as someone with nobel intentions.

I think there is a big difference between the Liberals from that time and the so called Progressives of today, same goes with Conservatives.
"I am not a courageous person by nature. I have simply discovered that, at certain key moments in this life, you must find courage in yourself, in order to move forward and live. It is like a muscle and it must be exercised, first a little, and then more and more.  A deep breath and a leap."

Two statesmen that had more intellect than the whole bunch of liars occupying DC put together.
Garbage in, garbage out.
