You’re 100% correct msb. The auto body shops are all in on it. Many won’t even give you a quote for non-insurance claim jobs...they make so much $$ on claims. Another good example...the plain old office chairs at my government-run corporation are $1500...you can buy the nicest gonad-massaging heated leather chair for much less.
Why allow private companies compete to insure when government can do it at 5x the price

And yeah, I’d have loved to keep the Valk. If I lived anywhere else, I probably would have. At least with the new wing, I’m gettin insurance worth using if necessary...and not paying for the total value of the bike every couple years.
You sold your Valkyrie and are getting a ‘18 Wing ?
Yeah. Sold the Valk in October. Didn’t think it would sell in the fall, it sold on the first day.
I have a deposit on an 18 Wing, it’s supposed to be here mid March. Was going to get a ‘2012ish but they hold their value so well, it didn’t seem worth it to spend $20K on a 5 year old bike when I could spend $30K on a new one

. The new front end design made the decision easier. Getting a matte grey/black engine/exhaust model, adding the rear top box, centre stand, taller windshield.
I haven’t mentioned it here because I wasn’t sure if you guys would let me still hang out here anymore. Thanks for outing me msb.

An 18 Wing hey, fantastic choice. I was in Northern Indiana on Friday. At corner of IN 3 and 6 in town of Kendallville was Hayden Honda Powerhouse. I had to stop and sure enough they had 2 wing tours and one red wing that just got delivered. Owner took some time and proudly showed them off to a couple of us and I got to sit on it and hear it running. Well I was drooling. I am in the market for another bike and the new wing has jumped up to the top for now. Only problem I had with it is those tiny footpegs that also do not go out far enough for me. Thankfully the owner of Rivco products is taking delivery of a wing and will soon design floorboards for the new wing, something I just have to have.
I just know you will love it Beardo and am sure March can not get here soon enough. Congrats.
Oh and I can not vote here. Second bike is a 2014 Havasu red Victory Cross Country that has really spoiled me in comfort dept.
Yeah, I kept an open mind, looked at everything. Test rode a Harley Ultra Limited, Kawasaki Voyager...I wanted the Kawi to be good so bad...because they’re half the price of the rest. Gutless though. Terribly gutless. No fun factor whatsoever. Harley wasn’t much better and it felt cramped as well. If I would settle for a twin, I’d go with the Kawi over the Harley all day. Both are no fun and vibrate like crazy, but the Kawi is half the price. The Valkyrie has spoiled me and raised my expectations for power and fun in a touring bike.
Also considered a Concours, R1200RT, 1600GTL, FJR1300...and even Triumph Tiger 1200 and BMW 1200 GS. Was VERY close to pulling the trigger on a R1200RT until I read that you had to take it to the dealer to have the oil changed, or buy an expensive tool to log into the darn bike to clear the maintenance light. Nearest dealer is 2.5 hrs away, And I do my own maintenance. That just ticked me off, so they were out.
All the others had their bright spots, some were way less money but were missing key features like cruise, or weren’t powerful enough or passenger comfort wasn’t good enough or my bad back would probably not like them after a long day in the saddle. We could settle with some of them but at the end of every 500 mile day, we’d be regretting we didn’t get the Wing. I’ve wasted a lot of money in my life trying to cheap out, try to make something into something it wasn’t, only to end up buying the better one in the end. I could have thrown a Russel Day long, risers and a top box on an FJR and kinda made it work for 2up cross country touring for way less money. But we’d eventually end up on a darn Wing anyway, so why not just do it now...despite msb’s teasing text messages about stuffed animals and Dairy Queens.
