Did any of you know these are being reproduced? http://www.cushmanscooters2.com/galleryA friend of mine about 5 years my senior had a top of the line Cushman scooter when I was a young boy and I can remember him zooming by our house on it and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

Bought a cushman eagle when I was 14. I lived in a rural area and rode it all over. Great machines.

My neighbors had an Eagle when I was a kid. They would never let us ride it. Seems like they painted it a different color every other week. They had their own sound.

I got to looking on eBay and craigslist and determined that the one I saw in my youth was a Silver Eagle with the fully enclosed rear fender and a dished out section for that big long chrome tailpipe. And, I agree that they had a very distinctive exhaust sound.

A town not to far away from me, Portland, IN has a vintage motorbike show ( they bill it as the largest in the nation ) for several days in July every year. Maybe I will go over and see if this company brings it's line to the show. I hear Cushmans, Vespas, etc are the rage their according to my wife's cousin who owns both. I see the plant is in Gardena, CA. where I took my first job after relocating to CA in 1983. I wish him great success.

I had a 1958 Cushman Eagle I used to deliver newspapers - rode that thing pretty much every day - rain, snow, or shine for about two years. Loved that thing and wish I still owned it. These newer ones look very interesting.

Yep Alpha Dog, you're right about the vintage bike show at Portland, Indiana. All kinds of old bike items but especially Cushmans. Anywhere from parts to restored scooters. I live about 15 miles from there and go every year. I had an Eagle two speed in high school with the shift lever along the left side of the fuel tank. My neighbor had an older one that was direct drive. I could beat him starting out but his top end was faster than mine. I rode the daylights out of it, then I morphed into bigger things. Mine was a later model that the rear end was closed in and the exhaust pipe ran along the right side of the rear fender. If you pulled out the exhaust baffle and put a teeny tiny hole up where the pipe and manifold joined she would shoot fire about a foot out the end of the pipe on deceleration. Loved it at night. Nice ones at Portland are pricey but there are ones you can restore. The show usually is in July. Go to Jay County Visitors & Tourism Bureau Official Website. It's a pretty big deal. Jaybird.

I will do my best to make it this year. Only an hour away, just north on the OH 49 to Ft. Recovery and hang a left.
