Hurt my wallet. Seems every time I refill my oxygen and acetylene tanks the price jumps $20.  It's now just over $100 to exchange 2 small acetylene and 2 small oxygen tanks for a port-a-torch.  Seems ridiculous to me. I know most if you dont have a torch setup but for those that do what are you guys paying?

Last time I filled mine, I paid $24 for the 40 cu ft acetylene bottle and $14 for the 60 cu ft oxygen bottle (I own the bottles so that's just the gas).  The big argon bottle (220 cu ft) was $65.

I've had the oxy-acetylene bottles for a long time and rarely use them - usually I can get enough heat from MAPP gas.  So you're saying I'll get sticker shock when I need gas...  I regularly refill the big Argon/CO2 bottles for MIG welding, rarely the helium for the TIG. The Argon ain't cheap either - I own the bottles, pd $72.81 a bottle last year -no doubt more now.

RP#62,  Mine are 10cuft acetylene and 20cuft oxygen I believe. Paying more than you are for the bigger bottles. They are exchange though. Nobody will fill the small bottles. They all say its not worth it unless they fill 100 at a time.  Kind of pissed me off when i paid $300 for the setup with new bottles and couldn't get them filled anywhere within 50 miles

Mark, I use the disposable mapp bottles too for heating things. Oxy acetylene I mostly use for cutting. I live in Ohio with salt on the roads. A lot of suspension parts need cut off or heated cherry red to come off of these rusty old cars.  None of my customers have nice new cars. If they did I wouldn't eat as well as I do.

Next time you go to exchange them see what the extra cost would be for larger bottles.  May be cheaper in the long run.  I only use O/A for heating/bending and once in a blue moon to cut.  Any welding is done with TIG or stick.  Last time I had the bottles filled (about a year ago) I found I could of gone up a size for a couple of bucks more.

I'm paying what you are. I need them so I really have no choice.

I just had my big argon tank (250 cf) filled on Monday and it was $82.00. I remember it was about $25.00 10 years ago. And then they charge a $7.50 hazardous material fee.
