UP $127.  That comes to $3,000 for the year (24 paychecks).

Should just about offset what I would get back with the property tax deduction.  It IS my fault that I live in a highly taxed area where the voters vote to give away the store every year.  Someone has to pay for all those gifts.

If I lived elsewhere, $3,000 would do a lot.  A nice vacation every year.  Could drive a really nice car.  Could put in a pool and have it paid for in a couple years.  Home repairs and/or remodeling.  Certainly NOT just crumbs.

My President.  Finally, a small token of thank you for doing tings right and paying into the system for over 30 years.  Instead of continually being punished for doing things right by having to always pay more.

A fine is paid for doing wrong.  A tax is paid for doing right.  Well, a little more in my pocket to do with it whatever I want is better!

Slightly smaller numbers but still quite nice, the "crumbs" (As Pelosi calls it) that my check has gone up by is easily the largest raise I've had in the last decade...

The property taxes on my rather nice upscale house come to around $7200 a year, so I'm still under the $10k cap, we have no state income tax so I'm losing nothing there.

Thanks President Trump!

It looks like I'm getting an increase of a little over $2,000 per year but at my age I have a rather large amount going pre-tax into savings.  Thank you, President Donald Trump.  I have no regrets over how I placed my vote.

If all the Anti-Trump folks, who actually have jobs and work, would stand by their convictions and refuse to take his tax cuts, or crumbs, we could all get a few more pennies, or crumbs, in our checks. But I'll bet they won't.

For any anti-Trump folks that are feeling guilty about the extra money you're taking home thanks to President Trump's tax bill, you can gift it directly to the federal government to assist with paying down the debt:

https://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/gift/gift.htm

(Another option of course is a contribution to the Serk and Daughter Inzane fund... Wink )

They were already paid for and then some

Senior administration officials said the president’s proposal would slow salary increases, generating $10 billion over 10 years.

Mine went down by about $12...because the health-care debacle is still a debacle and sucked up any possible reduction (AND my raise).

That sucks Daniel,, I get mine paid by my employer and if I go to the local hospital they pay 90%.
I know I am lucky.
I used to employ 30 people and providing insurance was my major headache. No one realized the value of it. All they did was complain and had no idea what the value was and what I paid.

If inflation is controlled and interest rates are contained, this tax package should do wonderful things for the country's economy.      I have no idea if my paycheck differed, I never look.    The spousal unit was given that long ago.   I just tell her what I am planning to do and what I think it's gonna cost (most of the time).     Wink

Why should I pay for your daughters tuition?

Cutting out the deductions like subsidy's for education, mortgage and state tax should put the pressure where it belongs, the colleges (price of), the states and, the buyers.

When you are taking a deduction for your personal gain, that is screwing everyone else.

The same folks that are jumping up and down swearing having less of our labors stolen from us is a bad thing are also the same ones that swore Antarctica would be ice free by 2013, that Hillary would be president, that if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor, that the stock market would totally crash if Trump was elected president, etc. etc. etc.

Your (Collective "your" not specific) credibility has worn itself rather thin at this point.

Indeed.  The Reagan tax cuts provided the great boom of the 80s and 90s.  The economist author of supply side, Art Laffer wholly endorsed the tax cuts and knows there effects better than anyone. Supply side was nothing new, Kennedy did it, and others before him all successful ) only gave it a quirky name.  Of course the usual suspects called it trickle down and for 35 years have called it a failure.  I guess say something long enough and the low informed will buy in, but you can not change history.   This boom could have went longer but the effects of Nafta, Gatt, WTO sent millions of jobs south of us and overseas in the ridiculous slogan of free trade.  The US was the only one to allow free trade, all others protected themselves.  Trump called out this lunacy way back in the 90s and finally someone is trying to right the course on this also.

And everyone please enjoy you bigger paychecks.  If some have a problem with the tax cuts I would suggest to wipe away the tears with a big wad of greenbacks that now populate you billfolds and purses.   Like J. G. Wentworth says,  It's your money.

http://personal.tcu.edu/jharvey/forbes/Economists_Opposition_to_Trump_Tax_Plan.pdf

You've ALREADY ruined "your" country: Baby Boomers have spent their way into massive debt, and they CONSTANTLY vote themselves tax (revenue) cuts in constant hopes of lowering (paying off) debt.

Because having less income allows you to pay off loans!  Works great when you're pushing those payments on someone else.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-28/most-economists-agree-trump-tax-plan-will-widen-budget-deficit

For 35 years the debt has only increased (except for Clinton's administration) - but you keep believing the fantasy of supply-side economics.   Let's repeat: supply-side economics has NOT WORKED FOR 35 YEARS.  uglystupid2 uglystupid2 uglystupid2 uglystupid2 uglystupid2

So keep smoking the good stuff - one day, the fantasies may come true!  You'll pay off loans with LESS MONEY!

Allow me to enlighten you on something.

There is NOT a single thing that you can post a link to that I will bother to read.

I have more important things to do with my time than read sensless drivel.

And, I believe that you are the one that has been doing the smoking.

"During Reagan's presidency, the national debt almost tripled and the U.S. went from being the world's largest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor in under eight years."

If I remember correctly Reagan said it was the greatest disappointment of his presidency.

We have not done our income taxes yet though but my neighbor did his with turbo tax and he made it seem you cannot take as a deduction anymore in paying into my daughters college tuition.  To that, I say NO THANKS to Mr. Trump!  tickedoff

The govt.:  giving you a little but still screwing you over more so.   uglystupid2
Why should I pay for your daughters tuition?

Cutting out the deductions like subsidy's for education, mortgage and state tax should put the pressure where it belongs, the colleges (price of), the states and, the buyers.

When you are taking a deduction for your personal gain, that is screwing everyone else.

The Reagan deficit had a purpose - economic warfare that ended the Cold War with us as the victors.

Reagan's defense spending was for that purpose, and it worked. But the tax cuts and and resulting deficit had nothing to do with the Cold War. The Soviets were going to fail regardless.

The nay Sayers are also the same folks that have voted to increase social entitlements since the Johnson administration.   A bought vote is still a vote.   Consider the percentage of our tax dollars that go to those receiving entitlements.  No one wonders where the Dems get their votes or who is paying for them......

I suggest you spend this new found money soon.  Perhaps bling for the Valk.  Thanks to a combination of the ill advised tax cut during a nice stable economic recovery and huge increase in government spending, inflation is soon likely to make that increase insignificant in comparison to increased prices.  Not to mention higher prices because Trump believes increased tariffs and a trade war will MAGA.  2funny I recommend investment in nice inflation protected bonds for your investment portfolio.  Even Reagans budget director and OMB head David Stockman has confessed supply side economics doesn't work and in fact at the time of the Reagan tax cuts they actually had no idea what they were doing and caused great harm to the economy by over stimulating.  70's inflation anyone? Presently, he is predicting an economic bloodbath caused by these new cuts and increased spending.

Grin I think he misunderstood you. He probably does not realize you can deduct the tuition you pay for school every year.
