I am in Cookeville, TN.  I have owned my Valk for 8 years and the first year of ownership I learned the hard way to not trust the dealership.  Since then I do all my own work.  Not hard for me, I have been wrenching for over 60 years.  Bill is closer to Nashville but it is a very nice ride from Nashville to Cookeville if you ride up 70N.

cooldude Afternoon Joe, I hope you can find some fellow Valkers around your new stomping grounds. Sounds like Bigwolf and Bill both might be a good start.
We miss you down this way as Bill and I met up with Jeff & Judy for a mornng RTE at Gator's Cafe in Baker.  Wink They really have a nice smoked sausage and Hot Cakes.  Roll Eyes A good day for a ride too, sun in and out up to 73 degrees. Bill and I are lookng forward to InZane and it'd be great if you could catch up with us in NC after wards. Let me know. Enjoy your weekend.  coolsmiley

Thanks Bill and Bigwolf. Just looking for regular services. I’m very close to a Honda store but not sure about their capabilities!  I don’t have time or tools to change a tire or brakes etc.
Most of their techs look about the same age as my bike!

Hwy 70 sounds nice. May have to come that way when weather gets consistent.

Keith , sounds like a good morning!  Cold and rainy here today but much better tomorrow.  May have to get out for a bit.  Miss that mild panhandle weather!  Although we will be in 70s Monday and Tuesday.

I was forced into a rainy Friday afternoon visit to the Murfreesboro
Honda shop a few years ago for a tire. I'd never bought a tire
for my 1800 before, so I didn't have ideas about what tire I
might want to be running. They had several that would fit, the one they
suggested and that I bought turned out to be the best one
you'd want to put on an 1800... the people were nice, the
service good (it was just a tire, but I watched them work and
was impressed with how they went about it). Compared to
the Honda shops around here they were Rocket Scientists.

There's probably not such a thing as a cheap and good
motorcycle shop...

Hey joerider, I'm in Waverly, just west of Dickson. Just changed tire, did rear end service, replaced fork seals and other little items. Got a shop that is  heated, well sort of if its only 35 degrees out or higher, but dry, LOL.  I don't call myself a good mechanic, but I was taught by one. (Mac McCain). Holler if I can help out.  Also have a good motorcycle shop close that changes tires for $20.00  Good luck on the phat girl cooldude

Hubcapsc......that must have been Sloan’s in M’boro. They have a good reputation as far as I can tell. Might give them a try.  They have a free pick up and delivery promo for service going on right now which would help me out.  Thanks for the response.

It was Sloan's ... I was with him that day when " Chewie " ate the rear tire.

I used Nashville Motorcycle Repair last year to rebuild my carbs and they did a good job. The head mechanic used to work at Bob's Honda and was familiar with the Valkyrie.
