That was the best one yet. Thank you.  cooldude I'm very tempted to get one. My wife is telling me to get it. But, I've never even considered spending 30k on a bike before. I'm looking at it as another year before retirement if I do.

No chance I'd buy new, even if I can afford it.  Where I live, the taxes on vehicles never stop (the first 3-4 years of taxes on a new one would probably be more than my first motorcycle and first 4-5 cars cost (each, not combined).

I'll wait and see how they do, then maybe in 3-5 years try to find a low(er) mileage one.

That's just how I roll.  Smiley

(one new car, and one new bike, ever.  And I still have the car.)

My Valks will just not wear out.  And one would have to go.   Cry

Great exclamation and video of how the front suspension operates starting at about 13 minutes.

Just follow my logic...I was going to spend $20K on a used wing. It would likely need fork seals and an air filter done in the first year. So might as well spend $30K and get a new one.  2funny

Bunch of nice colors. Personally would not want a brown bike but the one in the video sure is pretty, for a brown bike. Just a pipe dream but I would definitely go with the Red DCT. My 98 Fast Black Tourer will take me to my twilight of riding I have no doubt but I do think the 18 GW is sweet.    cooldude

Red DCT would be my choice also. I like the color scheme of the air bag models better, but 3k for an air bag seems high.

I am surprised he did not show the walking and reverse mode as was demonstrated to me in Kendallville, IN two weeks ago, works like a charm.  The opening/closing struts on the bags work great also.  He also did not mention you can buy the standard shift model or add it to your DCT.  I listened to the motor at rest and liked it, just a nice little rumble.  The droning at touring speed is reminiscent of my Valk.  I guess the sewing machine is gone.

Jeepers Mr. Meathead, get that wife what she wants. It is a tough market we all know, but I think Honda will do well with it.

Looks like a great bike and I would love to have one, but $30K is a lot for a bike.  On the other hand, I am retiring this year after 35 years, and you can't take it with you.

it seems like a great new design and i like it quite a bit but the issue i have are the 2 little tie rods.

1 thing is what is their maint. schedule and the other is they look quite thin to hold up for a long period but i'm sure they are tested for strength and durability of road conditions/wear and tear.

the other thing is no engine guards to mount cruising pegs or anyplace to relocate your feet to.

all in all a really nice bike, but i like to see what years 2 and 3 do to redesigns...iron out the bugs so to say.

I thought about the tie rod maintenance as well, but the old fork design wasn’t maintenance free either. Probably easier to change tie rods/ends than rebuild a standard fork every few years.

The hiway pegs are a concern too...from the pics I’ve seen at full lean, the existing engine guard would be the first hard thing to rub, aside from the pegs. Mounting hiway pegs would reduce the lean angle. Hopefully the aftermarket will come up with something that works.

As much as I want to get one, I have to agree with you guys.  I could see no place to mount something to stretch my legs and at my age and I have never been very flexible, I just have to be able to move the feet out more.  I know the owner of Rivco company took delivery of a new 2018 in order to design floorboards and such.  Perhaps they can accomplish what Honda will not.
