Yes, and a civilian with a 30-06 pinned him down so they could take him out before he could shoot more.

This is fact. I verified this.

Most people don't know that the NRA was responsible for our background check system being initiated. In the early 90's president bill clinton initiated a week's waiting period, and the NRA worked to get background checks law passed.
.
In 1993 chuck schummer on public record (audio ) shook the hand of the NRA president & promised to make sure all crimes and convicted mental illnesses were reported to system,he went back to washington and did nothing to get it done.
.
as it stands only 80% of violations are reported into the background check system today. The states do not follow thru to enter the crimes into the database.
.
All criminals who try to buy are supposed to be prosecuted by FED for a FELONY......out of 80,000 attempts last year only 44 people were prosecuted.

I agree.  Take God out of the equation (you fill in the arena) and the evil that has always existed and will always exist will flourish.  This is true whether you believe it or not.

Next we don't need more gun laws we need to get better at using whats on the books already.  Information sharing to include mental health info.  Privacy is good but when someone is a danger to themselves or others we already have rules relaxing privacy to insure public safety.  We need to get better at it.

Banning the AR-15 is impossible, any law that tries this will just make more criminals out of law abiding citizens.

News Flash.  "AR" does not stand for Assault Rifle!  It stands for Armalight Rifle, the maker of the weapon.

Hypothetically, if the impossible was achieved and all AR-15 and like weapons were gone, someone hell bent on a mass shooting would have several other choices.  keep banning then until we are arguing about BB guns and slingshots.  Oh, my bad we are already arguing about them too.  Its not the tool its the human behind it.

Raise better Humans and improve the culture, less hate, less violence more consequences, better parenting, and less fear and hatred breeding about guns.  We teach our kids that guns are evil.  We don't let them touch them, then when they grow up and see a person use a gun to kill they naturally blame the gun because that's what they were taught.  That needs to change.

You dont see other instruments of death vilified like guns are.  Way more people get killed by car accidents.  Ill even say just by distracted (texting) drivers alone yet our young people for what I can see think its ok to text and drive.  If every person that texts and drives would stop, more lives would be saved than if all guns were confiscated.  Yet the gun is evil

Tell me if I'm wrong here, I need opinions.

I been a member of a shooting club for a long time.  Today the club is run primarily by high power shooters competing with AR-15's, M1's M-14's, etc.

I have written many letters to the editor and now, posting on Facebook, continually trying to get across that the AR-15 is NOT the problem.  I've gotten flack over it but I won't quit.

To my knowlege ,NOT ONE member in my club has ever posted anything anywhere defending his choice of owning firearms.  In fact, I asked a member last week about that.  He said that the prevailing attitude is not to let people know that they have guns. I can see the point, sorta. but gun owners sure as hell don't speak up like these arseholes do who know nothing but to take away our guns.

What's your take?  If I'm wrong, correct me and why.

This will not help.  Not one bit.  Human beings, especially the current generations, can rationalize just about anything into what they want it to be.  Getting "God into public life" will simply be, even more than now, coupled with "My God-given right to own guns", because of course Jesus was SO pro-weapon owning  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes uglystupid2

So we'll simply end up where we are now, only with more shooters, from Stand Your Ground I-shot-you-in-the-back activists to militant Rambo wanna-be's, saying that "God called upon me to act this way".  And they'll get a nod of consent...oh, I'm sorry, I flashed-forward back into today's reality, sorry.

You're still in the fairytale existence that, once we get back to some fantasy-land past, where God and conservative values rule, everyone will magically hold hands, sing "Hallelujah Kumbaya" and everyone will behave as perfect human beings.  No crimes, we'll all just live in magic harmony because we are One people under God and we'll all, somehow, believe in all the same things: crime is only a Liberal creation.

Wayne, it's even worse in Politics.  Many, many good men (and women) would be better politicians than we have now.  But who in their right mind want's to have anything at all to do with dirty, filthy, lying, scheming politics and politicians?  So they don't do it, and I don't blame them.  They know right and wrong and good common sence, and easily live by it, and don't feel it necessary to go about trying to convince others of it's merits.

Lefties are naturally drawn to politics at all levels (and schools and universities).  It's just in their nature to try and control people and laws and institutions.  Right thinking men (and women) are not, and it is a real sacrifice on their quality of life to hold their nose and jump into that arena.

I think we are still the SILENT majority, but man it's getting to be a close thing.

“In the present case it is a little inaccurate to say I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty and common decency.  This makes me forever ineligible to any public office of trust or profit in the Republic. But I do not repine, for I am a subject of it only by force of arms.”

because of course Jesus was SO pro-weapon owning

Once again the Agnostic with Bible quotes has to point out Luke 22:36

Quote from: Jesus of Nazareth
He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Well we tried it your way...kicked God out of school, and its not going well.

Teach the Bible again, Gods love and knowing Jesus as something honorable instead of something only insane lunatics do.  What could it hurt?  Hmmmm love your neighbor as yourself (neighbor includes your enemies) hmmmmmm.  No, crime wont magically stop there will always be crime, were shooting for improvement here.  And God equipped his people to defend themselves many times.  There is a time for peace and there is a time to defend ones self, there's a time to sacrifice and there's a place for justice.  Read the whole Bible, and quit spouting the party line to criticize what you don't understand and justify your faithlessness

Trying to rewrite the Bible to read what you want into it will only lead to failure (and to the devil, if you believe):

Quote
And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” (Matthew 26:51-52)

It is odd that you should say this, for isn't it the "lefties" that demonstrate and petition constantly against violence of any type, usually against "rightie" supported activities that they engage in whilst simultaneously claiming their devoutness?

No, conservatives only make up approximately a consistent 34% of the population - the same 34% that shows up in just about every survey.  The rest of America, 66%, is a mix of moderates and liberals.

But the conservatives are more organized and vocal, claiming a "majority" for only themselves.
