I've looked here in Starkville and no one wants to paint a motorcycle, even if I bring the panels to them. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in this area? I don't mind traveling too far, ~3hours from Starkville, MS.

Thanks

Always amazes me when people don’t want to do what they make a living doing every day. Are you wanting an elaborate design or something! Back when I had a Supertank,I had a local body shop do a two tone to match my black and silver with some ghost flame thrown in for a reasonable price but that was over ten years ago.

Yeah I was very surprised no one wanted to do it.... granted Starkville is small, but surprising that the only 2 body/paint shops in town didn't want to do it. After I got rejected, I went to the only motorcycle shop around and asked where I should go. They told me no one around would do it, I'd have to go out of town.

Honestly, I'm looking for something relatively simple - Since most of the internals were painted flat black, I'm going to have to get something that goes well with that. Anything is better than the crap that's on it now.

I've a longstanding relationship with the painter at one of the better local bump shops (I must take him my parts, not the bike).  But, I have to get in line with a lot of ongoing year-round work, and he is not allowed to hold up any of the business for my work (always small stuff, not whole bikes).  And we must have a thousand auto body shops around here, unlike rural areas.

But bump shops today are so tied into the contractual/financial relationships between multiple insurance companies, adjusters, new and salvage parts, etc, they seem to not be able to (or want to) think outside the box.

If you could talk directly with a bump shop painter (each shop usually only has one), it's always possible he does side work (and maybe not at the bump shop).  And if he doesn't, maybe he can recommend someone.  A networking approach to this issue may work.

Otherwise, you'll have to throw a wider net.

I've always stayed away from specific bike painting outfits; they think they are Leonardo Da Vinci, and want paid accordingly.

I have a guy in Laurel, MS, that’s probably about 4 hours south of you. He’s awesome and fast.

There is a guy (Aubrey) in Southaven MS that does good paint work. I haven’t had business with him but some of my friends have. He will do small projects. Also does pinstriping and I think airbrush art too.

Intool mine to a local auto body shop and they did a good job. Only took the parts ,you wont find anyone to take it apart and put it back together.

Have you considered getting someone to do a Wrap?

It's usually cheaper that painting and the options are virtually endless.

One of the wildest pain jobs that I've ever seen was actually a wrap.

I wouldn't have known if the owner of the bike hadn't told me.

If your town is really small there may not be a graphics design shop that does them there.

But I'll bet there is one that isn't too far away.
