Hundred mile ride today and my hands were tingling and starting to go to sleep from the buzzing in the bars-no noise, just the buzz- most noticeable at 3000 rpm in 4th or 5th, goes away with clutch disengaged even if engine revved to 3K- no vibration visible in the mirrors, just the buzz feel in the bars,
Could not feel it in the engine (as much as I could reach while riding anyway)
Have a 6 degree trigger wheel (thousand miles maybe) and the buzz seems to be getting worse- there was mention made in an older post that sometimes a trigger wheel install will bring this on-I like the performance and mileage with the 6 degree installed but cannot take the buzz or falling asleep hands
Have tightened (tried to) the "buzz bolt and could not budge it
Need input before I go back to the stock trigger wheel

If you have installed aftermarket accessories dealing with the handlebars or related stuff, well that might be the cause.

The flat six is extremely smooth operating and not likely the source of the vibration.

Look for an out of balance condition in the wheels/tires. A bad u-joint, a loose windshield, you know, look, look , look.

I'll look, but there is no vibration-just a strong buzzing in the bars-only felt in the bars, not elsewhere on the bike-felt at 2500 + up, no matter what speed-mostly in 3rd, 4th & 5th
Will take a look at the u-joint too, thanks for the input

Same vibration if the bike is revved while stopped in neutral? If not, it's in the u-joint or back.

Could the vibration be from the timing belt tensioner? Just throwin it out there.

If the buzz goes away when you disengage the clutch from the drive line it's most likley between the u-joint & rear drive or perhaps you've begun to chew dampener plate rivets in the clutch and the released springs are stacking up and not only thowing the clutch basket off balance but a warped plate may be slightly rubbing the backside of the basket.

If you feel a need to resolve this [we can't know how bad the buzz is] I would start with the easier of the 2 inspections - the u-joint through the drive hub. If there's no problem there you might want to inspect the clutch plates/dampener. Which is a much bigger pain in the a$$.

Either way, if it's either of these areas they will both worsen in time and become more obvious as to where which of the two the problem lays.
And if it's either of these 2 things you could be left stranded on longer rides.

Wouldn't it have to be in the clutch if what you say above is as I read it? U joint still spinning! eng still reving! ???
