Yup thats right Pizza, or more like how do you carry a full size pizza in a box home on a Valkyrie without any major modifications.

Wife's on a trip and I was hungry and have wanted a pizza for a couple of days. So tonight was do or die. Called up ordered the pizza, was not going to take the car, no way, no how and now Im committed to picking it up. So the delema, how to get a full size pizza home? In the past Ive put it on the pass seat and moved forward enough so my butt leans against it and keeps it in place. That position is awkward and not comfortable for driving. So as I'm going to pick it up I'm thinking hows this going to happen and decided to wait to see what would be possible.

In town is kind of busy and they have been giving tickets if your not parked in a spot. The garage is pretty far and the car parking guys are a pain to deal with. Not to mention there really isn't a place to take a minute to go inside and pick up the pizza with a car. Now a bike its pretty easy but a car not so much.

So I am there park the bike go in and pickup the pizza, failure is not an option and I'm NOT going to not enjoy my ride either. So as I come out I get out my trusty cargo net and small towel and bungy cord to see what I could come up with. Now the engineers would love this problem, I have a chrome luggage rack that could scratch and a pizza box that could bend or distort enough that my cheese pizza wound up on the top of the box.

So the idea formed, I put a towel on the luggage rack set the pizza on top of that. Took the cargo net clipped onto the bottom of the luggage rack with the edges of the box held by the net. The net was not big enough to cover top and bottom of the box, so I pulled it out from the rack tensioned the net so it would pull up on the end of the box and pull to the headrest and hold it in place. At the same time I am holding the net I fastened the bungee cord from one hand grab rail to through the center of the pass backrest through one part of the net back through the headrest and fastened to the other hand rail. So the box was essentially held up and forward by the net and with the net covering the sides would not pivot from side to side. The box stuck out from the headrest way over the back of the bike and beyond the rear fender. It looked strange but heck the pizza was safe and sound. So I started on my journey home over a few bumps and at a pretty good clip to arrive both me and my pizza safely at home.

Its so great when a plan comes together without a hitch. The reward and sense of satisfaction and accomplishment was like OH YEA I'M THE BOSS. 

I think my arm is long enough 

Sometimes its the simplest of things that gives some real satisfaction. I love my bike and some small adventures like this makes it all the more fun.

You could get a couple of those insulated pizza bags, Velcro them to the rack and go into the delivery business. LOL

I've had pizza (and other food) cut up and put in smaller Styrofoam take out containers, and stacked them down in my bags, flat.  The food tasted the same.

I know this is less challenging (and fun) than bringing it home whole.

With my first motorcycle, I tried to bring a 6-pack of beer (cans) home holding it in my crotch.  I hit a bump, the beer started slipping, and I almost wrecked the bike saving it.  Wrecking the bike for a dollar six pack seemed stupid (you could get dollar six packs 40 years ago).

Also, with pizzas, I'm not sure, but I have heard that some of those outfits actually deliver to your house. 

You want to get looked at funny, ride over to the bike shop with your new-to-be-mounted tire worn around your waist (especially a big fat car tire).  I had a lady pull up and ask about it, and I told her it was a new safety thing; if you fall off the bike, you just roll to safety.  I'm not sure she believed me.

Yup but nothing like the enjoyment of your food in your own house and not having to wait for delivery.

Come on guys we conquer adversity and push through to get r done what a pleasure in taking brain cells to get your food to your house  

Thought about the delivery scooters I see around here with the big box attached to the back of their scooter and thought Im Not going to make a living out of this and it is a bit of overkill not to mention I would never demean the status of our great bikes.

Here is how I do it.  I made this board specifically to haul a x lg pizza.  I made it when I had my Buell xb12x.  I made it to replace the rear cargo box.  It is held on with 1 wing bolt from the bottom thru the carrier.  Quick on and quick off.
So when I bought the Valk, I made my rear rack to accept my pizza tray also.
It works great.  I have 3 quick attach bungees that hold the pizza securely to it.
As you can see it can carry a lot of weight too.  Hope this helps. 
And Pepperoni and Sausage is my favorite.

Nice to find another Pizza lover, I may have to do something like that since going downtown with a  car is pretty much out of the question. I could try another place but this place happens to be pretty good.

                          I'm not so worried about strapping a full size pizza to the back of my Valk, as I am about stopping on the way home to get a 30 pack of High Life beer. Without my home made rack on the back, witch I only have on for those cross country rides, I leave afew long buggies in one saddle bag and put one double around front to back and the other crisscrossed across the top side to side. That keeps the case tight but not so tight that it crushes any can. A 12 pack of bottles is easier, not as big. Glad I only have afew miles to go to the house, then I can un strap and pop one, sit in front and enjoy. Home is the best place to enjoy afew brews............
