Attacking with a blade is a very personal upclose tactic. Very tragic event even though I know few details, been busy with house projects. When things settle down for me I need to get a CCW permit and a piece I can carry, everything I have is a long barrel.

That's not exactly correct.  The hearse (burial) and cremation occur AFTER the individual is deceased.

The proper use of the chipper is BEFORE the individual is deceased.

(Of course, for humanitarian reasons, the individual is shoved through the chipper head first (and is allowed two aspirin before the procedure.  )

We had a suicide locally in Richmond, maybe 15 years ago now, and a wood chipper was involved.

The partner was in the tree cutting branches down to the guy on the ground, feeding the chipper. The guy on the ground wasn't there. Man in tree comes down in a while, and looks for him, now where to be found. He found a red mess in the chipper.

If you know those things, unless all the safety devises where removed, not functional, there was only one way to do it, jump over into the devise.

This is meant in no way to belittle depression and the act of suicide. I've been very lucky in my life and never have had to deal with these issues. I can't imagine what it would be like. But were I ever to consider it, I think I would try the most benign and least messy way.

My good friend runs a tree service business, for decades.  He has a big monster chipper.

He did a big job at my house and I helped feed the chipper.  That thing is scary and can grab you if you aren't careful.  You stand back and throw stuff in.  No leaning in to help it feed.

On news this morning, they had a bit of him getting the read what he was accused of.  He was asked if he understood what chargers were read.  He said he didn't.  Acted like he wasn't all there.  Should have never been allowed out and about with people.

The state hospitals have been systematically downsized and closed since the 70's when the mentally ill got their "rights" to be deemed safe to live in the community.
Close the hospitals, kick the patients out and what did they think was going to happen?

My brother had a job in Oregon at a pulp mill. He was running the chipper.
