Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

There's gonna be two dates and a dash carved into your tombstone.

Make that dash count.

My Grandma's favorite saying. She was still living independent the day she died. She lived to 108.

So far.....so good! There has been a couple hiccups along the way but as I stated......  :cooldude:

A little family joke re. my dad. His first wife died of cancer in '48 and he had one large stone mounted at the grave with her dates on one side and his on the other. When it was first engraved, it was done showing just his birth year followed by a dash and just the 19 as shown below:

JOHN C. SCHMIDT
1906-19

Well, dad being a rather healthy old geezer most of his life, just kept getting older and older. So, us kids started teasing him about it since it looked like he was going to live past 1999. That meant the original engraving of the unfinished 19-- was going to create a problem by having to change it somehow to 20--. His answer was always...."not my problem."  He died Dec. 27, 1999 at the age of 93 and we just know he did it like that just to give us kids one last poke in the ribs.  :2funny:

My grandmother had the same problem, but she was just ornery enough to live until 2015, passed away two weeks after her 100th birthday.

She'd been saying for 5 years she'd make it to 100, but wouldn't promise anything after that.

I'm lucky we were able to get this pic before she left us...

I never did hear how the tombstone was handled, but when we went to visit her grave site I couldn't find any sign of the original "19" engraving.

THAT is frame-able!  Just looking at it gives me the same feeling inside that they are obviously enjoying.  As much as I like looking at the beautiful rig they're riding, it's their expressions that really say it all!
