Labor Day Weekend will be here before we know it.

Knowing that there is another ride going on this same weekend, I was wondering who was planning on being in Sparta again this year.

Please, post and let me know if you're planning to attend the festivities in Sparta this year.

I'm afraid most Labor day rides will be out for me as my Granddaughter's birthday is the 3rd of Sept, so Labor day weekends are pretty much spoken for until she gets too old for Grandpa.

I can't remember the rate that they quoted us last year.

Seems like it was between $80-$90 per night with tax.


If there's still enough interest in the ride I will contact the owner of the hotel.

I'm pretty sure that several people reserved thier rooms last year for this years ride.


The plan is:

Ride in on Fri August 31st and a group ride on Sat Sep 1st.

With tire kickin' and lie tellin' on both Fri and Sat nights.

I've come to the decision that if I'm using language I wouldn't want to use in front of my grandchildren (12) perhaps it would be best if I learned to not use that language.  I'm not quite there but I am working on it.     It is a very small price to pay for a grand benefit.

Good to see you stepping-up and taking complete charge... I've sort of hi-jacked SmokinJoe this year for the Darby Ride! I was one of those who 'thought' I'd reserved a room in Sparta last year for this year... I called to cancel so that room would be available, but the very nice lady informed me I did NOT have a reservation after all... Hmmm... My point here is, wouldn't hurt to verify/confirm your reservation before showing up this time...

I talked to Wimp today, the Mull is not him. I talked to the Allegany Inn guy today, and the Mull is Johnny.
The Allegany Inn guy said he also talked to Wimp and that he thinks Wimp knows about Johhny's
reservation... so... if Johnny isn't going someone should tell the Allegany Inn...

Anywho... It looks like I'll be there... I can't leave until late on Friday, I guess I'll ride up there by myself  ,
or could maybe meet up with folks around noon or so where 215 crosses the parkway...

I'll be a last minute decision. Have to be in Cary NC all week for work, if I can make it back to Greeneville at a decent time on Friday I'll make haste over the mountains to Sparta. Hopefully the vets office can keep my K-9 companion till Labor Day
