a big milestone for me

Yep today I hit 50k miles that I put on my girl. Just so happens that I've owned it 50 months. When I bought her she had 27k which I considered low mileage and now she has 77k 4 years later. Some might say that's still low mileage. I would like to thank many of you who've helped me with the maintenance of my bike thus far, because I don't think I would have kept it and I certainly wouldn't have kept it going flawlessly for these years without you guys and this forum. My hat's off to you. In terms of what I've done for maintenance, just the basics: oil changes of course, air filters, tires lots of them and that's about it. I changed the spark plugs when I first bought it, flushed the coolant and bought a new radiator cap. I also did the timing belts in the first year I owned it. Other than that nothing really I didn't desmog and haven't done any mods to the engine.  I love the bike it's by far the best motorcycle I've ever owned or am likely to

Flushing out brake and clutch lines should probably be done. The fluids do start to gum up over time. Final drive is the only other thing I can think of. That should be checked every tire change. Maybe run a little fuel additive once in a while. That should be it. Not much to worry about with these girls.

Yeah come to think of it I have done the brake and clutch fluid ( i've done brake pads front and rear) and I do the final drive maintenance every tire change.  I've also done other little things like maintenance to the blinker switch and starter switch, I've had to change my headlight bulb etc. I guess if I keep rambling long enough I can come up with a long list of stuff I've done – I changed my rear rotor last year. I also recall now in the first year I did the wheel bearings front and rear.

I also have gratitude to the many, many Valk enthusiasts that have contributed to the maintenance files and knowledge this board possesses.

I know for a fact, I would not have been able to maintain and repair my girls as easily without that help.

The fact that these 20+ year old bikes are still ridden as much, in as great of shape as they are, is proof this board is greatly responsible for those facts.

TFrank59, 1k miles a month is nothing to snuff at.  Good for you .

1K per month average is pretty good especially here in the wet Seattle area. I also have another bike and I try to ride it about 500 miles a month average

I got mine back in July and ride it just about everyday. It's gotten to the point I have to make myself remember to ride my other bikes so they aren't neglected. I completely understand people that have multiple valks and really want to go test out one of the second gen ones now. ABS and fuel injection would be nice, though they don't look nearly as good.

I have only had my bike about 6 months and the only thing I have had to do is replace the fuel petcock.

As for mileage I got it with about 3600 and now have all of 4500 I was hoping to get a lot more riding in maybe next year too many issue this year some of which heath issues.
