I wonder how much to rent a bike from Palm Desert to Taos? I checked, and its a 12 hour ride. 1 day there, 1 day stay and another 1 day back. I wonder if the wife would let me leave our vacation for 3 days?  :smitten:

Farmington would be way (68 miles) out of the way from Palm Desert to Taos.

Nonetheless, average speed between Farmington (if one chose to go through there) to Taos is estimated at over 50 miles per hour.  I suspect your single experience is flawed if you didn't get over 45.

He was joking anyway about his family vacation.  Fudgie, as one who doesn't attend InZane, please refrain from trying to discourage those who do.   :)

Yes, joking, and bumping the post. A 9 hr ride takes me 12 hrs to do, with break/gas/pit stops. I would suspect a 12 hr ride would be a 1 1/2 days.

I think my wife would be cutting something off if I left her in Palm Desert with her sisters and her 60th, and took off for InZane.  :o  But it is tempting  :)

Had as chance last year in VA to show a buddy what a great group we have.
He was so impressed that  I talked him into ridding  to NM with me for this one.
The surprising part is the VA ride was his longest ride ever and that was under 300 miles.
Hope to show him some of the SW and enjoy  some life on the road.

vanavyman

Thanks to the whole staff for what sounds like a great InZane.  I'm having a little difficulty in convincing my better half that this trip can fit into our 2019 riding budget and wanted to know if you could give us an estimate for hotel costs per night.  I think it is more she isn't sure she wants to go to N.M. even though I'm still showing her some really nice pictures and ride routes.  Looks like some great riding in southern Utah and Colorado on top of the Taos area.

Not flawed at all. Slow going around the Rez and west of Taos. Maybe I was going slow to enjoy the scenery and spot dead cows.  ;D I would never discourage anyone from attending. I have no reason to. NM is a beautiful State and I have been blessed to ride most of the State the last 2 yrs.
