Freeze plugs for de-smog. Anyone have any .500S&W brass laying around?

Been searching for a while trying to find freeze plugs to fit the smog ports in the heads. After a few failed attempts I finally found some freeze plugs that fit properly for the desmog. Came from Napa part number 381-2163. Hope this helps someone

Part 2 :  I think if I cut off the end of some used .500S&W brass it will be a perfect fit to cover the freeze plugs and dress it up a bit. If you have some spent rounds laying around you are willing to part with please send me a message.

That's a pretty cool idea. Maybe Jeff will see this thread, I think he shoots one of those. Would love to see a pic if it works out.

I buy a box of 10 14mm freeze plugs from O'Riley for about $5.00.  I put plugs in the air tubes or make block off plates.

Hey Greg,Already picked up a bag of 12 from Napa in Ross. 8 will cover my 2 valks  if Justin wants the final 4 for his new valk if it isn't desmogged already I can bring them up to your shop this week

A friend/former coworker bought one of the first 500 S&Ws in the area when they came out. He also handloads, as do I. If you think components are spendy now, try when brass simply couldn't be found.

It's currently that way with 450 Bushmaster. No one - I mean no one - stocks that brass locally, and I had to special order the dies from Hornady.

Many years ago, Gary (Bruor) sent me a bunch of Remington 44 Mag brass from his reloading days; this in exchange for a couple of sets of mirror clamps for 1" bars I sent along to him. They're still in my inventory, still being shot and still holding up.

I'm not sure if these ½-inch brass pex plugs fit. There's a shoulder on them that I like. I have the xF6 stainless steel plugs, but I don't know if I tapped the xF6 in too far. A shoulder would have taken the guess work out of the installation. Still happy with the xF6, though.

RonW I actually have the pex plugs here and tried them they measure 14.06mm and are just a bit too small.
