Not sure if the PO was trying a version of desmoging but I found a bolt in the par valve hose from the air box and no vacuum line to the par valve.  #3 & #4 carb capped off.  I'm glad I decided to desmog and will do it correctly.

Your link isn't working. The PO was probably trying to eliminate the vacuum hoses which may have been leaking.

I have a California bike. If I plug my hoses like that, the bike wont run hardly at all. I think those two line vent the carbs. When I desmogged I put a piece of screen over those two hoses so they would vent but yet keep the bugs out.

If you do have a California bike then you'll have more ports to plug on the carbs. If I remember correctly, I had to plug 2 ports per carb.

Fixjet

It's not a Cal bike, I just had not heard of anyone just blocking the Par hose to the airbox and the 3 & 4 carbs.   Everything else was normal stock installation.  I'll finish it up right.

Actually, I think the left hose goes to the Secondary Air Control valve, this gets removed during a normal desmog. The hose on the right goes to the Crankcase Storage Tank.

it looks like a stealth desmog kit   When you pulled the hoses off the par valves did they have pins in them?   If so it was desomog already with that kit i have them and they work well Redeye made them Hope this helps Dennis

Fixjet

No, all 6 where open, just looks like the PO wasn't real sure how to do it.  I have the shiny kit so it will get done correctly.

Your correct, my bad it is the hose to the SACV.

I will take a leap here and  say that as long as the reeds are not broken, it should be ok to just remove the vacuum hoses from #3 & 4 intakes and plug them.
