New petcock on the market?

I was searching for the best price on a Pingel 1311-CH, since my tank is off for the de-smog. I stumbled on these "HARDDRIVE" petcocks on Ebay, made of Brass (allegedly, anyway). The price is nice, that's for sure. Of course, there's NO info online, at least none that I could find. I guess I was just hoping that someone would build a decent, mechanical petcock that just plain works. Save the polishing for something you can see easily, and save me the money.

I'll be pulling my tank off this Sat. Need to redo the petcock. I have a spare unknown condition, and one off of a Shadow, straight petcock/pingle, no vacuum. The pick up is a different length, but I expect to do a few pictures while I'm doing my overhaul, and will do a comparison.

This looks interesting. They do have some that say 'Brass Finish'. I would guess that they are coming from China or somewhere like that although it does not mention source of origin.
A lot of people do not buy items from China because of quality concerns. As a result, a vendor will buy a large quantity and then resell them on ebay making it look like they are coming from this country.

Dont understand why everyone says tbe OEM is a POS. 22 yrs and no problems with mine. Still the one that was on it when I bought it. No tomorrow it may take a dump, but I would say 22 yrs is a good testament that they are not a POS

And I think every Goldwing GL1500 too has a vacuum shut off. The GW also has an electric fuel pump to go with it.

Ended up ordering a Pingel. Didn't want to risk it. Rolling the dice on a leaky one potentially causing the hydrolock I'm trying to avoid didn't seem to be worth the $70 ish dollars I'd save.

If you are even remotely concerned about hydrolock, install a Dan Marc electric fuel valve.  $30 peace of mind.  My brother and I both have them on our 97's, would never, ever run without one.  (we both run stock petcocks).

Totally agree!  However, it has gotten me to be lazy in that I never turn off the petcock anymore. Just leave it in run and occasionally to reserve when  I'm running light.   Anyone else do that?

I've eventually fitted a Pingel to just about every bike I've had (that wasn't injected). I'm very used to turning it off as I roll into the driveway.

If your not doing it, you need to get in the habit of shutting it off at all times.

I have had my Valkyrie Standard since 2003 (new to me) and I never played with the petcock unless I needed to go to reserve.

Nothing......but IMHO could fail at any time due to age.

I never shut off the valve unless I am taking the tank off.  Even storing over the winter.
