You would die if I told you what I paid. I have 2 more being made just like this one to give my boys when they are mature enough to handle a blade.

Yes, really fine Damascus steel.     (the sheath is nice work too)

I like smaller fixed blades.

I have a heavy 17" Bowie, but what exactly are you supposed to do with them?  Even my K Bars are really too big to carry, and too nice to beat up.  My working knives are cheap beaters that take a good edge, and get abused all the time.  My carry is Ernest Emerson (and it is never used for work).

I recently watched a NOVA about knight's armor, and how complex metallurgy
involving carbon steel was used to make the best knight's armor - the kind
that could stand up to the guns that started appearing on the battlefield
in the 1400s... the way the metal in the good armor looks under the microscope
reminds me of the way the metal in that knife looks..
