Ok, 8 weeks are up, hip feels great and I did a couple test rides pretty local during the week. All went well, so I took off for the day today.
Headed west for the Berkshires, not sure what roads I'd take, but as I approached the turnpike on ramp, Hells Bells came up on my playlist and it was decided, a jet ride out the pike was in order. Anyhow those 2 putt-putt rides didn't clean out that 8 week old gas from the high speed jets so I'll take care of that now.
Blasted out 90 to 91 into Deerfield, checked my favorite train watching spots. Nothing happening so I hit RT. 116. Best road in Mass., and it has some new pavement. Great ride to Ashfield then some back roads to Charlemont. Hardly any traffic so I headed back east on the Mohawk Trail to Greenfield. Jumped on River Road back to Deerfield. I don't think I've ever ridden a River Road that wasn't a good road!
Found a big shady tree next to the tracks 5 minutes before the Amtrak Vermonter screamed by at 60 mph. Yes, just like a little kid I still get a rush from trains...
Anyhow, it was getting pretty hot, so it was cool, shady backroads home to the waiting pool.
Last leg was a 20 mile ride on Rt 20 (past Hooks street) that went well until 2 miles from my turnoff and the traffic stopped. This is payback for a no traffic day.  took 20 minutes to get thru that, and saw 2 HD's parked off the road cooling off. I was cooking, but the bike was fine. But we all knew that!
Rolled into the garage with another 250ish miles on her.
Feels awesome to ride without pain again.

Thanks to everyone that posts ride reports, they're a lifeline to riders that can't ride.  :cooldude:

Ride safe all,

Thanks Rob, it sure felt good.
I was thinking about you & Baldo as I rode by Elizabeth Warren's home on the Mohawk Trail,

Don't think she was home so I grabbed a pic for you guys.

Craig,

Nice report! Glad things have worked out so well for ya... I completely agree that no rehab is ever complete without some wind-therapy sessions! Looking forward to reading about your next 'treatments'...

P.S. I'm rather fond of that sign, too...   ;)
Don't just dream it... LIVE IT!

See ya down the road...

Craig,

Craig, I'm afraid you've been duped. Although I do appreciate the thought and effort. Pocahontas was from the Powhatan tribe, who resided in the tidewater areas of Virginia.  ;) (cool pic though)  :cooldude:

John Schmidt

Rob, that's her some'r home....some'r there in winter, some'r there in summer.  ;)

I used to answer the phone "the Schmidt house" until Rita asked me to stop...the pastor had called that day and commented on it. So I started to answer with "the Schmidt some'r home....some'r here, some ain't." She didn't like that either, woman was so hard to please sometimes, wouldn't even let me put "The Schmidt House" on the mailbox.   :P

I miss Pekarskis sausage shop...worth the trip to S. Deerfield for their kielbasa.  Was a regular stop while working at Yankee Rowe.

Great news Craig  :cooldude:

Sounds like a great ride.

My mason told me about the backup on Rte 20.  Did you see what caused it?  He had to hit Comuses (sp?) for stone and said it was clear on the way there but traffic jam coming back.

Pocahontas only used her summer house on Rte 2 while on break from her slumming days at haaarverd.

Now that she's on the federal take, it don't get much use.

Yup, another good reason to hop on 116.

Hey Bill, pretty sure the cause of the back up was too many stoopid people in too small a space!
The pike was slow eastbound, so they think 20 is a good option. Until they get to Charlton...

9Ball, I always wondered if they had good kielbasa there, now I have to stop.   :cooldude:
