run/turn signals

Any way to make the rear turn signals into run/turn without getting stimulus help?
Am still trying to find red rear turn lenses for a Std. Seems the Kuryakyn lenses will only fit bottom screw mount signals which I'm told are on later than my 98 or are on IS only.
Any thoughts?

well you can do like ia am i purchest a set of front directonals and painted the amber lens with a red candy paint. i have found that if you scuff the inside of the lens with a scotch-brite pad and applyed an flexible bonding clear (sem # 39863)  the paint is (hot hues apple red candy-medium)  the purches of the front turn signals give you the double filiment bulb and socket that is needed to make the run/turn function possable. but i was gonna run mine as brake/turn.

Go to AutoZone or a similar parts store and look for a Blazer #C827R round marker light. It has a red lens which can be modified to fit the 2000-up signal housings. You'll need to cut a small slot in the top of the lens for the engagement tab in the stock housing, and fabricate an "L" bracket of 1/4"w x 3/4"L x 1/8" to allow the bottom of the new lens to be locked into the signal housing.

Search the old 'Tech Board' - I did a couple of writeups on the procedure.

For the 97-99 housings, you merely drill two holes in the new lens and mount it.

I, and those who have ridden behind me, really like the Priority Plus by Sound Off Recreation.  It converts the rear turn signals into running lights / turn signals that flash for 1.5 seconds when brakes are applied.  I left the lenses yellow.  +/- $70.00 at the dealer.

Custom Dynamics makes a led puck that fits into the lens of our bikes easy to install has brake running and turn all in one unit. They are BRIGHT, and the turn signal is kind of cool. I had the electrical connection lights and they were ok but this is just what the doctor ordered. I wanted to take pictures but with my phone camera it was so bright that all you saw was light. Robert, Are these visible during the day? I purchased something similiar from Direct Line and they were cheap crap. NOT visible during daylight, very cool at night.

Very visible in the day time just a reminder they are leds and will require a load equalizer if you have the stock flasher. I have the Kisan signal minder and it doesn't require it.

The alternative to a load equalizer is an electronic flasher relay: http://www.customdynamics.com/trick_flasher.htm
You want the "standard relay" for 14.95. The advantage is it doesn't get hot like load equalizers can and it will reduce the load on your electric system.

You can do it cheap, Like Bagger says use the small round clearance lights, but the only thing different I do is I use the base that comes with them for their mount.  You just take off the lens, then remove all the material including the light socket from the base leaving a tab each side for your screws to go through.  Get a couple of shorter screws, and mount the gutted base just like you would mount your original lens.  Then the lens will snap on and off.  To convert them to run/signal/brake, use a Hoppie trailer converter.  There are two kinds, a powered one and a non powered.  If you pull a trailer you will want the powered one, if not the regular one will work fine.

ricoman.......look at the controller from Kuryakyn.....reasonable price....and easy easy to do.

run, turn, brake with option to flash four times

lenses, get Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red spray model paint, clean inside lense, spray one coat inside, let dry then spray another coat.
Works good, can see in DAYTIME and night.

Better than the Electrical Connection kit....I have done both, the Kury is better.

I did as MasterBlaster did but I hollowed out the back part of the light housing a just JB Welded  it into the stock housing and then just snapped the red lens on to the housing. I also bought some replacement dual filament sockets at autozone and JB welded them into the stock socket and ran a wire from the lics plate light to get the running light power. Hold thing cost about 15 bucks and most of that was for 3496 bulb upgrade.
