DDT (12)

"Where ya headed?"

"Don't know."

"Which way are you headed?"

"Haven't decided."

"How long are you out for?"

"No idea..."

"Where do you live?"

"At the moment, right here. By tonight, who knows..."

"Doesn't sound like much of a plan..."

"Exactly!"

I've had the above conversation many times with many strangers. The most memorable reaction so far to my ambiguous non-answers and cause of utter bewilderment on the part of my friendly interrogators has been that by an old man once upon a time... "You lucky guy!"

Yeah, he was so right! I think about that sometimes... So many times in my life I've come to a cross-roads and picked one way or the other not having any idea if I was making a good choice or not... Looking back I can see clearly now where having made the 'other choice' would have led me in an entirely different direction and altered the whole trajectory of my 'journey'. So many times, it seems, fate and not this unwise rambler has taken me on my intended course. Times when I've actually been 'saved' from myself by not getting what I thought I wanted...

That's true for all of us, I reckon... I'm sometimes asked if I'd like to go back and do things differently... I honestly can't think of any circumstance where I might want to do that, though, because to go back and change anything would be to change everything that followed, and I simply wouldn't want to do that at all. I'm quite content with things just as they are! Even now...

ALI and this so-called rider have been 'home-bound' for nearly three months, and PMS is raging at an unprecedented level!  Our girl, always patient and understanding, is nearing her maximum level of tolerance for... well, neglectful lack of attention on her partner's part. This is already the longest period of not riding in our, next week, twenty-one years together, and... this must change!!!

Naturally there are reasons, excuses, alibis, and explanations for all of this, but I won't bore you with any of them... Suffice it to say, we ain't out yonder, and we'd both rather that weren't so... It's up to me, of course, and I desperately need to undertake a remedy! I think I'll start working on that today!!! A new direction for a new day... a new year, a new decade... A same life, however, and that suits me just fine!

Oss

It is a new year, there will be new adventures, new roads, new friends,
and a big party in June when you get there.

It won't be long you and Ali will be meandering about the countryside

Till then remember what Yogi used to say:

when you come to a fork in the road...take it

Oss

Ya dont have to ship it to Oss COD though

Life is What Happens To You While You're Busy Making Other Plans.

If someone had told me when I was 20 years old I'd be living in the mountains of northeast Georgia Id have called for a strait jacket for them.

Keep on planning and let life take you.

First, Happy New Year!
It's 2020, seems like a good time for reflection.   I've always been told hindsight was 2020.
Had I known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of this body.

Turns out not what or where,
but who you ride with really matters

Bruce,
Happy New Year to you.
May your year be filled with an abundance of miles in great riding weather, stimulating conversation, enough solitude to adequately ponder new perspectives, and plenty of breathtaking scenery.

I will always be happy to share some more miles with you.

Carry on Bruce and ALI!

Man....you're killing me with that video. Sitting here at the north pole(Green Bay area), a couple inches of fresh white crap on the ground, the bike 20' away and all I can do pace the floor and think about this Spring.  >:(

So Bruce, I'll just have to live/travel vicariously through your posts until then.  :(

Farside

Happy New Year Bruce. I can't believe you've been anchored for that long. I sure it has been eating at you to get out and back on the road. Keep April 10-12 in mind when you do hit the road for a gathering in Hattiesburg. I'm planning on going and it'd be nice to find that " fried chicken" spot you've talked about.
  Safe travels bud.  :coolsmiley:

I read your post and part of it reminded me of the song that says,"thank God for unanswered prayers'. Although I would change the lyrics somewhat to, "thank God he always answered my prayers, sometimes with a , NO".  (Thank God he answered with a, no, when he knew I needed it.)
I hope for you a very merry new year, and good health to enjoy your travels.  See ya down the road,Lord willing, my friend. :) :cooldude:

Sweet Cheeks

Happy New Year Bruce.
I can't believe you and Ali have been stationary that long!  Should you find yourself back in Bama, stop by and see me. I'll be in Prattville for another 3 weeks.
Take care my friend.

Yeah, I did make a rather inaccurate statement there... I should have mentioned 'except for the ten months she spent in Terry's garage in Calgary!' I did have CALI at the time, so I didn't actually miss riding for so long, but our girl was indeed on the sidelines, and separated from this rider, for a protracted period... Sorry for the boo-boo...

Dennis,

Awesome, man! Hard to adequately explain just how excited I am at the prospect of being back aboard our girl again! I am indeed an adventure junkie, and seeking it while with her is... yeah, well, you know all about that, don't you. Anyway, you've made for some of our most special memories, and those that will soon follow will be... Oh my...! I think I just had a premature organism!
