I used them as examples because they were well known by the general public. I doubt many of our current generals are well known by most Americans. You might be correct in your assessment of our President as an example. Hopefully we will never know.

That's partly my point.  The generals are not well-known publicly.  Therefore, they would likely be perceived as under this commander.  And, just so you know, my postulation comes with great sadness for our country.
I understand it does.  :cooldude: I guess I didn't explain my example well. (Thankfully it's hypothetical)

This is merely to place an exclamation point on my postulation.  Not only would we not be united, I believe many of our citizens would rejoice.  A sad, sad commentary.

You can't do much about the length of your life, so focus on the width.

Isn't an attack on our embassy (which is American soil) an act of war? I understand he ordered it.
If so do we not have a right to defend the embassy? Maybe I am wrong?

Could have toasted that plane inbound to Bagdad over the mountains. Engine trouble. Plausible deniability. Bad guy gone. Doing it on the ground all politics. excuse being the death of an american. Dude was a highly paid contractor who knew well the risks of his job and chose to accept those risks. He was not a serviceman in defense of his country. wake up america. we can't stay in this cycle of perpetual war and keep this country together.  I'm sure Putin is sipping a vodka and enjoying the show.

That is one of most asinine comments made on this board in quite a while. Wow. This guy was a terrorist plain and simple. This was a surgical strike.  No civilian deaths unlike your scenario. Just because he was a paid contractor doesn't make him less of a American then the rest of us.

Black Pearl's Captain

Yes Bruce I'm proud of Trump. I'm sure with all the great things we have in place to protect the USA he had plenty of reason and intel to make the choice he did.

I just can't figure out why they need such a big box to parade around Iran for a dead hand. But I do enjoy seeing that big box on the truck with that nice looking American made Thermoking refrigerant unit up front!

U.S. forces have now surpassed 2,800 strikes against targets in Iraq and Syria under President Obama's war against the Islamic State, all as part of a conflict Congress has yet to specifically authorize — and amid worries lawmakers won't ever act.
