Just a cursory look at the photos coming from the crash area (I don't consider it a crash site) makes it self evident that the aircraft was shot down and blew apart in mid-air. A typical crash would have an actual crash site at impact with the wreckage generally contained within a definable site. This was a crash area as the pieces of the aircraft were all over a large area.

While technically this is rocket science, the reality of the situation really isn't rocket science.
