Screw the NFL and network and SCREW bloomberg.

Might have been a decent game too.

I have never had any interest in watching football games.  However, having people from that group lecturing on social justice gives me pause.  I have to wonder if any of the NFL players on this list are among those taking a knee and backing anti police ads.  https://m.ranker.com/list/nfl-players-domestic-violence/ranker-nfl

Oss

I will watch the super bowl, as I watch the college finals of NCAA basketball
and the last 3 games of college football to see who will win.

Not watching football because of a few scumbags that take a knee
is like saying you will not watch girls on the beach because
your last wife was a shrew or some girl did you wrong

Watching football is my right as an american damn it

Still I set the dvr as I will almost certainly fall asleep again before halftime

If a commercial is repugnant to me I will make a note to send an email out why I wont use their product or service.  Bonnie is in Florida so I have free time now.

Oss

That said I dont watch baseball because I am still angry about the strike (yeah it was a long time ago)
It only took me 20 years to forgive the Giants leaving the Bronx also

yeah, but there likely will only be 100 million Americans watching it though.  :)

I turned it on just in time to see the half time show, my daughter told me the 1st half was over. That was some show I must say. I was exposed to more crotches in just a few minutes than a military induction center physical. Finally turned it off.

Yes.  I've seen those moves before but last time it cost me $25 and I was eighteen.  The halftime show as not the high point of the evening.

Willow! Hope you enjoyed the game....was hoping Andy would win his first SB.

Enjoy the energy.

Oss

great finish to the game

If you like pole dancing I suppose the show was ok...this is what the kids watch these days   :-\
The first part was a far cry from previous shows where songs were sung in English

Congrats to the Chiefs

Twerking for the whole family.   Really?   Who says it has to be a Vegas casino extravaganza?

What's wrong with marching bands, fireworks, and an aircraft flyover or two?

(but not fireworks that cloud the field for the whole 3d quarter)

As usual, the half time show did not live up to my hopes.   I have no idea why all those people (dancers) were on the stage.   They don't provide any additional entertainment IMHO.
I found the commercials (for the most part) to be a disappointment.   I did enjoy the Budweiser commercial but missed not seeing the Clydesdales.   They did have a good message and no, I don't drink their product.

Was a great game that lived up to the hype.   Couldn't help notice that JayZ and Beyonce sat during the playing of the National Anthem.  Sad, very sad.

For me half time and the ads are time spent peeing, eating, and drinking. I did like the google ad though. Also enjoyed the Johnny Cash intro.

I watched an original Star Trek episode that was on "The Cloud Miners", which I've seen 100 times, while the half time show was on. stopped watching the soft porno half time shows yrs ago.

The white QB for KC is really good and enjoyed watching him throughout the playoffs.

I too find the halftimes shows of the past several years disgusting.

I'm not sure what you meant by that.  Pat Mahomes is mixed racial with good and strong contributions from both parents.

yes he is. his father is a black man and his mother is a white woman.

same as obama yet they called obama black.
I'm sure the news media will also call Pat black only yet he looks more white.
I don't want to hear white or black only that He is an American.

Been 50 years since the Chiefs last won or even played in a Superbowl.  Tickets were around 15 dollars, now they are 2500.  Commercials were about 78k for 30 seconds, now 5.6 million.  Superbowl 4 showcased the first entertainer, Carol Channing, who sang " When the Saints go Marching In.  Now in the age of me two and empowering women, they showcase strippers.  Guess times have changed.

I thought at the nine minute mark of the 4th quarter the Chiefs were not going to get it done down by 10.  Mahommes was having an awful game.  I thought he may have had an arm injury that was not reported.  His passes were hurried and seemed to lack the velocity and quickness he possesses and it looked to me his throwing motion was different, from maybe just a tired arm, and he was not throwing deep.  If so he sure found the right gear the final nine minutes, just remarkable.  He will soon be a very rich man.

Way to go Chiefs.

Truly most who are called or call themselves black in this country are mixed racial.  A quick look at a few faces of true Africans will point out the difference.

I think the hit he took when running for the goal line was more damaging than he let on.  He's a tough young man.  It did seem to come back in the fourth.

That final touchdown was the icing on the cake and it was sweet to see.

Our paths seemed to take similar routes. At 18, I was on a flight from Des Moines to San Antonio, having just enlisted in the USAF. There was a long layover in KC so some of us went to a nearby Burly Q show. Didn't cost me $25 but I was amazed that you could actually make those tassles spin in opposite directions. That was my last contact with the "outside world" for a couple months. Those tassles still fascinate me at this late stage of life....or is it really the tassles?  ;D ;)

Excellent point Willow, I had forgotten about his.  He went to the sideline after this hit and refused any doctor or trainer even looking at it.

What is amazing is, it wasn't even close to his usual outing and he still managed to come thru. Joe Montana was saying earlier in the morning that what really counted in big games, and separated the good from the great, was the mental ability to shrug off bad plays and keep on keeping on.

its all about the all mighty dollar.  If I had 10 million am sure I could run a TV ad during the superbowl however I wanted to do it as well.

although never knew most words or any songs those 2 female performers sang I did not mind the booty shaking especially from Shakira.  Not like anyone was watching her abs, but they were well defined and in great shape.  She been working out ya know!   :cooldude:

I just got back from walking 9 miles in 5 or so hours on Sunday to get home stiff and dead tired and to see those 2 perform at halftime made me even more so tired basically in my legs from not walking that much hardly ever in one day.  The first 4-5 miles were fine, but the last 3-4 were brutal...

Watched the pregame ceremonies and was impressed. I do believe the NFL got the message. One of the most heartfelt patriotic displays I've seen. 100 year old decorated WWII vets doing the coin toss. That was inspirational. The Nat. Anthem was done well. I thought it was done very well. Much respect shown.

Salute to past 100 years for NFL. Many great players recognized.

Never been a fan of the Half time shows. Really ought to go to a marching band format. Marching band from National Champion College team maybe. Maybe High School All School Marching band from each NFL Superbowl team's State. I'd watch that.

A good ad in the Super Bowl for a change especially among the half time shows and the ads by Bloomberg.

Super Bowl Ad Honoring the American Flag Featuring Cpl. Kyle Carpenter and Johnny Cash

https://youtu.be/zPng8rtu_X0

                         and about the Bloomberg ad

Michael Bloomberg paid for and anti-gun ad during the Super Bowl, and while that isn't all that surprising, what's even less shocking is how bad he bungled the statistics. He was off by 73%, which amounts to a straight-up lie.

According to to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, FactCheck.org notes, the average number of firearm-related deaths involving Americans 17 or younger from 2013 through 2017 (the period used by Everytown for Gun Safety) was about 1,500, roughly half the number cited by Bloomberg. Furthermore, nearly two-fifths (40%, or 600) of those deaths were suicides, meaning the number of minors killed each year by "gun violence," as that term is usually understood, is about 73 percent smaller than the figure cited in Bloomberg's ad.-Reason

The real number is about 900, not 2900, based on the statistics made available by the very same people who want to disarm everyone.
"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that."
