A thought of what may change as a result of C19

Yesterday I had to change out my 3 month rated furnace A/C filter like I've done dozens of times over the years not just in my own home but my parents and in-laws.

Seeing the old and the new made me think one way of controlling the airborne issues in public places such as corporate buildings, big box stores, supermarkets, gyms, athletic centers, government buildings, dormitories and so on would be through improved HVAC air handling ie; filtration, disinfecting, possible ionizing or a UV application, duct work cleaning and disinfecting on some type of (maybe as a form of public health inspection) cleaning cycle. Have you ever been in public building and seen the dust and dirt accumulated in, on and around HVAC vents it can be pretty gross. I've seen it in hospitals, doctors offices, supermarkets, big box stores, corporate buildings, government buildings, almost everywhere.

Having spent a lot of time in bars I use to see the cigarette smoke handler get cleaned and how dirty it was and not just from the smoke residue.

By utilizing the same duct work for for a buildings HVAC a ventilation air scrubber with constant (or timed on/off cycle) operating speed of 1/3 or 1/4 of a normal HVAC blower speed would exchange the air on a more regular basis helping to keep air quality at healthier levels which is good for alligator sufferers in those mints as well as cold /flu seasons.

Well anyway, I'm certainly not an HVAC expert nor am I a physician or health inspector, I'm just giving a early Sunday morning while sitting in under stay at home restrictions opinion on one way I could see to potentially eliminate future airborne situations as well as helping to eliminate some other outside issues as well.

I think utilizing high intensity UV lighting into the HVAC ducting would be a better bet, and would eliminate most virii without relying solely on filtration.  As you mentioned there are drawbacks with filtration and an industrial filter designed to trap particulates as small as COVID would clog often, requiring regular and potentially dangerous  maintenance.  Of course, the UV lighting should be placed just before the air exits the ducting system into the building.

I already have one of those in my house. Bought it from a member here that sells medical cleaning equipment. It's called Reme Halo.

It would be impossible to put it on all outlets. Putting it before it goes to the manifold that goes out to all outlets - a lot more doable.

I has fee a uv light on my aquarium. Does that count? Also use a ozone generator blowing into the intakes of my hvac about once a month. Also use it on my hunting clothes. I never wash my hunting clothes unless they are caked in mud or blood. They always smell like the ozone machine. I like the idea of a uv sterilizer in the furnace.
