There is much truth, Joe, in what seems like a simple statement.

At this point in my life I seem to have a deep set need for socialization.  These times of isolation, even though I don't completely comply, have been very hard on me.  I find myself being driven at times to depression and unfocused anger.  I've found that even a little time in the wind brings me back to a near normal state.

I find myself being driven at times to depression and unfocused anger.

Well, I understand completely.

I have no depression, but plenty of boredom (between long periods of house and home maintenance).

And plenty of anger too, but mine is pretty focused.

It's been hard on all of us. Regardless of one's politics. I worry more about the damage it has on my grandkids. Kids need socialization more than even old men. (Although it has been fun playing Sorry and Aggravation)

The best part of my work day is the ride on the bike to work
and on the way home sort of miss my exit a lot of the time........... ;)

Went to dinner with another couple yesterday, place right on the water, beautiful sunset

But they were So freakin scared with the masks,  I felt bad for them

When it is my time to go it will be my time.  Bonnie and I are not hiding at home and I tell my clients if they want to not wear a mask I wont freak out.   I Know I have the damn antibodies

YMMV

Going for a nice long ride tomorrow, y'all will be with me in spirit

I even rode 300 or so miles in the 60* rain today just because. This was the warm day so far this week.
Life is about the ride, not the destination.

In these difficult times!

I've heard that phrase in a number of recent commercials and every time I hear it I always think of the movie Mr. Mom and the commercial for schooner tuna.

"I am not a courageous person by nature. I have simply discovered that, at certain key moments in this life, you must find courage in yourself, in order to move forward and live. It is like a muscle and it must be exercised, first a little, and then more and more.  A deep breath and a leap."

Joe,

It's been said many times that a picture is worth... Anyway, well said, my friend!!! Much wisdom has been shared on this thread. We're all struggling to cope, and many of 'our kind' have found great techniques... all with, it appears, a common denominator... Our Creator sure smiled kindly upon all of us when we were blessed with our iron steeds... Mine sure has been given a serious workout, but she was always up to the task.... I've found that miracles are indeed possible!

Don't just dream it... LIVE IT!

See ya down the road...

No depression or unfocused anger.

I'm not going to get depressed over this and I know where to focus my anger.

My son has a good friend living in China for a number of years now teaching English.  They went in to lock down way before us.  And when I say lock down, it was serious;  guards were at apartment doors etc.  About 30 days in they started to allow some freedoms again, that is when our shut downs started to happen.  We were on A private forum together during this time and I asked him if he had any advice.  For a young man of 30 he had some enlightening thoughts, the best was his thoughts on "learn or do something new".

I have taken that advice and ran with it.

I took the OP's advice this afternoon... Wasn't quite long enough <sigh>.

If you have the need find hiway 5 to Lansing.  Come back from Leavenworth however you wish.

Between being unbearably hot and rainy we had a few moments of not raining but not super hot and  overcast. I miss the wind and miss the drives so had to go pickup some food for dinner and took the car and put the top down. I would have taken the bike like I usually do on these runs but I really don't like carrying pizza on the back. So I took the long way home and it was really great to get out for a change.

After spending the last week doing far more work on my new to my bike than I though I was capable of, getting it put back together late Saturday, I rode as much as possible this weekend, (Which sadly was still only 100 or so miles) but those miles were pure bliss.... Last night especially was cathartic, as the sun was setting and the temperature dropped to just this side of chilly.....

It helps..... It doesn't fix, but it helps.
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Maybe do a short detour to Olathe first :). Been to Leavenworth a few times - the nearest NFCU branch is up by the Fort and the river.
