Let's try a picnic this year at the Salt Springs Recreation area.
Bring your own lunch, there is a subway just south of the entrance and drinks available at the parking lot store if need be. The entrance fee might be as much as $11 per person, sure has gone up but I will call to see if that's the price or if as a group we could get a discount. Consider the money you will save bringing your own and the tip you would have left at a restaurant..  Hope it works out and we get to see some of ya's.

Sounds like a good ride. Roxie and I will try to make it.

That's great guys, I called and verified it will be an $11. Per person entry fee  !! If riding in a group try to have one guy pay at the entrance,  their collection speed is slow.  The lil store at the springs parking lot is open from 11 till 3.

Mike, if i remember correctly, I believe they take the national park pass for a discount.

Sounds like a plan, was a real good ride when we did it in 2019. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Maybe we stage up at the Subway around noon and the pass the entry fee to one person? I figure to pick up my lunch there before heading into the park.

Depending on the temps, Roxie and I might ride directly from here. If I ain't at the Speedway when you leave, that is my problem.

Sounds like a great time and I'd love to go. It is a beautiful place if this is place I remember seeing what Liz and her friend posted on FB. If I didn't have a committed Xmas function for my church on Friday I'd leave Friday and get to Tallahassee then leave Saturday for the gathering! I'll catch the next one.  :coolsmiley:

That could be a long ride for a picnic but who knows....

sixlow

Well that would be cool TJ    :cooldude:  Dagwood, I usually get there early as do most folks to inspect bikes and tell lies and we try to eat together about noon but it's a laid back no hurry event.
The parking lot is:  take a right after the paytoll and then the entrance is on the left and is before the lot so it is easy to pass. There is a sidewalk path down to the springs with tables to dine at.  Looks to be some record warmth mid 80's are possible.

Flrider

I'll be able to make this ride, see you guys there  :cooldude:

Looks like a good turnout.  That's my old stomping ground.  A friend of mine's family owned a cabin that was actually located probably in the area where the picnic tables are now, this would have been in the 60's.  There were roads all through that area with cabins just up from the springs on both sides.  You could just run down the hill and jump in to cool off.  State bought the property and made everyone move their cabins.  Our friends bought a small piece of property toward Ocala on Lake Kerr.  There was a dance hall we called the jook or juke and everyone up to 80 or so years old was there on Saturday night.  Showing my age I know.  See if this link will work and you will get an idea of the history.

Patti and had a great time yesterday, great to meet and talk to all the people that showed up. Seems we took the long way home, because we came through the same road side flea market twice. Lol

It looks like it was a beautiful day for the picnic.  I really wish I could have been there.  We are in the process of cleaning out my parents house that is under contract to be sold and we have a deadline to meet.  I hope to see you folks some time in the future.

I feel for you! Lesa and I just went through that. We had exactly two weeks to do it with no help!
