and a lot of pissing people off on the road blocking hwys. down partially re-routing vehicles or making them wait 30 minutes or longer.

In nearby 10K population town they had to block off the major hwy. coming into/out of town (only 1 main road into town) for about 20 minutes just for an 80 ft or so long semi with load to make the corner VERY VERY slowly off of it onto another hwy. backing up traffic 20 cars behind.   Of course I was the FIRST one they blocked off though.   Even then the semi driver had to pop over the curb but no hwy. street signs were harmed....    I could have spun around got back onto another hwy. and gone thru the town onto the  hwy. I needed 30 ft away by the time that semi made the corner if I knew it took that long to make the corner.

We had an unusual load come through town a few days ago:

Wasn't the original purpose of the Interstate system to connect military bases?  What is that thing doing on surface roads?  With all the expense and time to disassemble and transport I wonder what it would have taken to make it airworthy and fly it to OKC.  Retired only some fourteen years ago.

The time the aircraft sat in parts/storage is only one consideration.   It's a very old aircraft and as that fleet ages, most of the grounded aircraft are salvaged of the still good parts to keep other birds flying.   This Stratobomber was built in 1961.  The plane is being taken to a Boeing facility where it will be used to help develop the next generation of B-52s.   Upon arrival, it was most likely be further dissected and broken down to inspect for such things as metal fatigue and other flight related wear.   Restoring this aircraft to a flyable condition only to break it back down upon arrival doesn't make a lot of sense.   The picture I saw of this transport also only included the main fuselage.   Are the wings and tail sections to follow?   The article I read did not suggest they were being shipped.
