Greetings!, i'm brandnew here with my girl: '01 I/S 64k. Hoping for some experience based discussion on the swingarm and it's riveted damper? plate. While replacing the alternator i see rust on this plate as well as on some of the battery box pieces. Also i see no battrybox drain line

battery box has no drain. It's plastic and so you can drill it yourself but I don't see a reason for a drain. If you have rust in that area (under the seat) something is massively wrong like the bike was previously stored in a river or it's actually caked on dust instead of rust. Does your battery box still have the oem cover and strap (photo below)? Best wishes.

Thanks for the help! The Plastic factory Battry box has a drain nipple and is drilled, suppose drain is for condensation/whatnot. Wish i could post pics: file size wont let me. So the only rust is on this riveted cover plate, top one only, the bottom one has zero rust.
My question: Is removing these what appears to be cosmetic plates a thing? Seems like they would trap moisture and exacerbate rust?
So drill those rivets?

Why do you want to remove it. The piece I'm thinking of is plastic.

Can anyone explain how to get a pic off an i phone that's not megapixel huge.
1000kb per pic too small for this phone.
So much better to show this issue

I email the picture to myself. When I attach it to the email, it askes me what size I want to send. I choose small usually. I save it from my received email then upload.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

Doing that degrades the image a lot. Use a host site like postimages and you can upload full size pictures directly from your phones photo library and paste them in your post
