Does anyone have experience with comfortable passenger seats they can share? I have a 2001 1500 Standard with the Ultimate rider and passenger low boy seats. I thought the extra wideness (vs. my old stock seat) would be sufficient for the wife however, she still complains about soreness after only about 30 minutes of riding. I would love to get this resolved for her (if possible). Thanks in advance!

I think the Ultimate pillion (for Valk anyway) is the same seat, regardless of whether you order it with a Bigboy or Lowboy set.

I had very good luck with an Airhawk (air) cushion.  It lets air get under your hiney.

I got it specifically for a chunk of concrete covered in leather made by Corbin.  But I used it on my old Ultimate too.  Not till I got a new Bigboy did I mostly stop using it (now it's only for hot weather).

(Like a camping air mattress) You do not fill it full, but there is a lot of adjustability from a third to three fifths full of air.  On long days, I used to add or delete air at stops, just to change things up.

They come with tie downs, but the cover is very non sip on the bottom.

And it won't break the bank.

I have no experience with a pillion cushion.  It's possible a small rider cushion might work better on the back seat than their pillion cushion, depending on seat and wife dimensions.  It might be OK to overlap the pillion edge a little, but too much could cut off blood flow to legs.

Slap a tape measure on your pillion.      (I don't recommend that with wives)   ;D

Speaking of that, some wives with short legs get sore butt as much from an overly long reach to her foot pegs than the seat.  Many guys have gone aftermarket to raise the passenger foot rests.

You can send off your passenger seat to Russell Day Long...
their seats are hard to beat.

Carolyn has an ultimate seat, ultimate arm rests and a Mustang
backrest and likes the combo a lot...

Judy loves her Ultimate seat with the arm rests. If the Ultimate doesn't fit her backside, I agree the Custom Daylong is the only seat I can imagine being more comfortable.

Thanks guys for the help! I totally forgot about the arm rests Ultimate offers. I imagine that would help a bunch, providing a leverage point to reposition ones self. Of course, I can no longer find them on Ultimate's website, but I sent them an email inquiring.

I may look into the day-long seat as well as trying to raise the pax pegs.

That's true, I think the low boy/big boy relates only to the rider not the passenger seats.

The bigbikethings guy seems to still offer his passenger armrests...

I have some of his stuff (not armrests) and like it.

Maybe a new post 99' OEM pad as the foam is new. There quite a difference in mine when replaced both pads. Mustang rear pad was very good on the 1100 Spirit but it was a one piece 2 pad setup.

It really depends on the passenger.

One ex-wife and several girlfriends later, there's quite the collection of pillions in the garage and on the two Valks I currently own. The only arrangement I haven't tried yet is a Day-Long...and that's next.

I've got the bigbikethings armrests. Jill doesn't ride with me anymore but I was happy with the quality.

Relax

In my opinion lowering the foot pegs help more than replacing seat.
By lowering the pegs, more of the thighs and butt touch the seat and the knee angle also get different. The seat area get more relaxed and blood circulation gets better.

Before installation my wife sat some more than an hour before a need of stretching legs. Now she sits relaxed for hours  :)

Happy wife- happy rides  ;)
