Is the OEM oil filler cap plastic or chrome? I have a chrome one if anyone wants to trade for a plastic one

Just curious, the chrome one is metal and won't stay tight?

Jess from VA

The aftermarket chrome one does not tighten well (threads, I think), and you must rely on the Oring to get snug.

My Cobra chrome oil filler cap stays nice and snug. Never a worry

Mine have no problem tightening well enough but a good O-ring is a necessity on a metal plug.

The one I referred to was Show Chrome not Cobra.

I don't recall which shiny chrome cap I got 20+ years ago, but I seem to recall the instructions explicitly stated to move the o-ring from the plastic OEM cap over to the chrome one.

(Which I did 20+ years ago and have had *Knock on wood* no issues with that.)

Yes, the new chromes did not come with O-rings but instructed using the ring from the OEM.

To much misinformation is posted by "experts" with no experience.  Reminds one of Congressional hearings.
