URGENT!!! Miss firing and 1000 miles from home!!!!

Hey guys Hope everyone is well!

I am on a road trip and the bike has started to miss fire below 2500 rpm.

Just started out of the blue.  I have limited tools and no parts.

Anything I can check?

Have you been riding in the rain?  Check that your spark plug wells aren't filled with water, if they are, unplug the drains that run from the bottom of the plug well, through the cylinder head, and by the exhaust ports on the bottom of the head.  You can use a small wire or compressed air to clear the passages.

By miss fire, do you mean back fire?

My bike had been de-smogged and the vacuum nipples on the back of the intakes covered with vacuum caps.  Well those caps began to fail with time and heat (blew off, or blew in two, or cracked and blew half off) and this resulted in big loud backfires on hard decelerations.  Cars near me thought they were being shot at, and took evasive actions, which added to the excitement.

No riding in rain ifs hot here, line real hot!

It's more of a hiccup, like is missing a cylinder or two below 3000 rpm then all is well....

Replaced vacuum ports plug couple of weeks ago....

....I have ridden at 90mpg for 6 hours today and it started after that....

Wondering if it's vacuum lines degrading....?

Loose (or fouled) plug wire?  Or plug?

I agree that it's air intrusion somewhere. Check vac lines, intake clamps above the intake runners. Did you mean 90 MPH? Where are you where it's hot. Near me in Mesa, AZ?

Europe,  France has a speed limit of 85, Germany in some areas laces does not have a speed limit - so mostly everyone is doing 85 - 90...

On a note, mine has had a plug go bad 2x right at 10,000 mile both times. The plugs just quit no fouling etc. Honda service schedule, 8,000 mi. I'm running iridiums now @ 13,000 mi. with excellent no choke cold starts.

Solved -  vacuum hose on no.1  carb came off, was hidden by fuel line and adjuster thingy.

I am never leaving home without a set of long nose oilers in the future - it dough good, not to go back on!!!

Max, now that you know how to put that hose on, why not install a new hose and a decent clamp?   You would be less likely to need those repair pliers.
