Great pics from the Bikes & Bourbon museum!  Loved those Kansas wildflowers as well.  Considering it offers such natural beauty, great riding roads, scorching summer heat and the potential of large wedge tornadoes it's no wonder some choose to reside there.

Well darn it relive dropped the photograph of the wildflowers that I took outside the wetlands visitor center.

I went 230-something miles once. I had to push it the last half mile. I
hate that flashy thing. I like reserve. When you run out, you get a
second chance! The flashy thing can sneak up on you, or even
go totally unnoticed...

The carbed Interstates also have a flashy thing.  Which is irritating and worrying at the same time.

More irritating is the fact my bikes will go from 3bars to 2bars, back to 3.  2bars to 1bar back to 2.  1bar to flashy thing, then back to 2bars.  It's a liar-liar thing, and the changes don't have to be accompanied by curves and bumps and a sloshing tank either, it can be all straight and level.

My one good trick is;  As soon as I hit reserve, I switch the second (of 2) tripmeters to 0miles, so I know I have at least 30+ miles left in the tank (and ride easy on the throttle).  And count down on the tripmeter, not the gas gauge.  The flashy thing can KMA.   The first tripmeter is always zeroed at fill-ups.

I had one fuel injected bike, and I loved having no carbs to worry about and the better mileage.  I didn't love no reserve, and the fact that running clear out of gas can actually damage the fuel injection (or it's electronics).  It also had a flashy thing.

Whether in cage or on bike, it's always a toss up to either slow down (or lane change) to encourage them to pass you by, or nail it and leave them behind.  But I'm not going to continue at the nail it speed for long, so they eventually come up behind you again.  I used to default to nail it, but now I default to encourage them to pass me. 

With age comes wisdom.... and a lot of other things I could happily do without.

It works. 

The landscape always amazes me.  The mesas.  They are carved out of the land by wind and rain among other things.  The obvious hand of nature in their creation.   Or is it the obvious sign of a "creator" in what nature does. 

My first bike trip out there in 2009 ( I think ), as we rode along from AZ north, what was in my mind was how the landscape changes almost from mile to mile.   It's simply amazing.
