Just had a quote for a goldwing alternator, $569.00 .  I know as Canadian our parts are fewer and usually more money but sheesh. Second question, I've heard that he front stainless steel brake replacements do not fit as well as original ?  Also priced at just under $200.00 bucks. Gafler/Russel.  Sorry to raise these subjects again but looking for a little feed back. Thanks

After 95,000 miles, I changed out my original alternator
with a low-mileage ebay (Pinwall) alternator. That was
in 2019.

Pinwall and some used-parts places list the mileage
of the bikes they part out.

Most local rebuilders can handle doing the alternator .

a few yrs ago local rebuilder told me all the major parts with windings are made overseas, nobody in the states are re-winding.
I knew 10 yrs earlier his shop was still re-wiring, but not anymore.

best alternators to get are from Goldwing 1500s '88-'95 when they were still made in Japan.

check ebay for part outs. Picked up one with about 10k miles on it a few yrs ago, bike was from an estate sale. they make more money parting out the bikes than getting it running and then selling it.

I just looked on Amazon.ca and found this one,

https://www.amazon.ca/ALTERNATOR-GOLDWING-31100-MT2-005-LR140-708C-31100-MT2-015/dp/B0149DSJDI/ref=pd_ci_mcx_mh_mcx_views_0?pd_rd_w=Dd2BA&content-id=amzn1.sym.d588ac7e-55d7-47a6-ba73-cac810bf2c84%3Aamzn1.symc.40e6a10e-cbc4-4fa5-81e3-4435ff64d03b&pf_rd_p=d588ac7e-55d7-47a6-ba73-cac810bf2c84&pf_rd_r=JQTW3FP7KG3ZENWBCDEE&pd_rd_wg=xGigs&pd_rd_r=0c10c3e5-bd8a-4350-8006-204e910982eb&pd_rd_i=B0149DSJDI

$216 CAD

I bought mine thru amazon.com, and paid years ago about $105. Shipped to the US and I brought it across the border myself. I did a post/write up about it. Now have a 1-2K on it, not ridding much.

A used one from the US was less $. Would suggest that one too.

I got this from ebay two weeks ago. The bike looked nice
and started great in the video, no reason to part it out other
than it fell into the hands of a parter-outer... less than 20,000
miles. $90.

Thanks for the feed back, looking for alternatives before part is needed. Probably start the search over non riding season.
