Hurricane Milton

This thing is setting records for strength and speed of intensification. You may have stayed in place before. This may not be like any others before. Get the heck out if you're in an evacuation zone. Stay safe especially if you are anywhere near Tampa!!!  It is supppsed to die down some but right now it's 175mph.

  Ugly Ugly. I hope folks have planed on leaving. Especially those close to the coast and in the evacuation zones. Traffic is bad and if I was running things the south bound lane on I-75 and major Hways would be open at some point heading north, at least one side. There wouldn't need to be an escort in that lane for very long as the cars would be moving North. Then have patrols at exits to monitor cars. Once this is done especially in FL folks would know how to react and know what to do. In fact in order to get your driver license it should be on the test!

The internal pressure reached 897mb, the 2nd lowest pressure for a Gulf hurricane ever.  You have to go back to 2005 to get the record of 882mb from Wilma(South Florida impact).  2005 was a banner year for Cat 5 hurricanes, there were 4 that year, Rita(Texas/Louisiana impact) reached 895mb and here in the Texas Gulf Coast know all about her.

However, I have never seen the amount of devastation from a hurricane that I have seen in North Carolina.  The damage from this storm is biblical.

After securing the Van Wezel for the first storm to clean up and restore to make the 92,000sf performing arts hall usable for shows, to again for Milton, securing the building including removal of huge sail panels that cover the grand foyer patio (pain in the butt) to this time bug out taking my 93 year old father, we are now in far northeast Parrish at my sisters newer build with full serious hurricane shutters taking the trusted Honda generator, I at 63 am exhausted!  The good news is I am sleeping well, well that won't be tonight!  Sherry and sister are at our home in Sylva WNC, that was totally spared the storm! We only experienced loss of internet for a few days, that service is cell internet aimed at Cowee Mountian fire tower with radio antennas there as well. back to Sarasota the final track will determine if the Van Wezel survives this time as it is on the bay. (777 North Tamiami Trail 34236). The last storm was right at that line of taking the building out and this is projected to be far worse. The VW is owned and operated by the City of Sarasota on 54 acres on the bay with many other buildings. Being city EE I am also FEMA and might have to report to the EOCC command center Friday. The amount of work I have done in the past couple of weeks be it physical and extreme mental is more that I want, and what is next for this facility manager?
