Another year, another chance

To do better! Incrementally, I try to be a better person everyday but many times by 2 or 3 pm I have screwed up. ;D I have a particularly good feeling about 2025 being a breakout year for me. Now January has been a washout for me as I have missed the mark so many times as my wife will attest. Now, realizing nobody is promised a tomorrow, I will take 2025 a day at a time and make the best of it I know how. I may even spend less time on the PAM board even though I know there could be plenty to pam about, but through my best efforts, I haven't changed a thing, except my blood pressure! :2funny:

Still anxiously awaiting Inzane signup because it's always great to have something to look forward to and be able to reward yourself a little bit. I'm predicting a lot more miles under my belt than the last few years have yielded, that's assuming I can still hold the Wing up when I get it out in the coming weeks!

And I'm wondering where DDT is today as I think a warm up may have come his way this past week. I'm sure he will let us know soon!

I usually don't have to wait til 2-3pm to screw up, as sometimes atested to by my resident bed warmer. I think just getting out of bed often gets the ball rolling. ;)

Alien

Wow, you make it all the way to 3pm?  I usually screw up by breakfast.

Excellent post John.  :cooldude:

In my 70s I too have decided to make an honest effort to be a better man.

To be more friendly and understanding, willing to help anyone I can (not involving stupid heavy), less critical, polite (take my hat off for ladies)(more sir and ma'am) (more polite in traffic too), smile more, look for the good in things instead of the bad, accept constructive criticism, and just about everything in the Ten Commandments, and avoiding the 7 deadly sins.

Most of all, I've been working on trying to shut up and listen better and let the other guy talk.  Not only do I talk too much (see my post count here) I talk too loud (brought on by being raised with a nearly deaf brother; the whole family was loud for him).  I see my brother once a year and he now wears good hearing aids, and when I yell at him, he tells me to knock it off, or he'll take them out and let me keep yelling if I prefer that. ;D

It irritates people, and I know better.  It's the worst bad habit I have, but I'm working on it.  With limited success.

Valker

That's your worst bad habit?

Amateurs!
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

Only seven? I may be in luck.  I do try to cover my errors on a daily basis and often wonder if I'm in His good graces.  ;)

John, I am sure you know what I am about to say and that it will offend some.

Some time back I abandoned the cultural perspective that my righteous or sinful behavior is the determiner of my acceptance by God.  It is not my own righteousness but that of and paid for by the Lord, Jesus Christ that has "saved" me.  Do I still work to behave righteously?  Yes, but I do so out of gratitude and His grace and not as a requirement for my continued acceptance.  Does the enemy still whisper in my ear that I am not good enough?  Yes, he does.  Do I believe him?  I struggle to not and seek assurance in the Word of the Lord.

Seven deadly sins?  Any sin is deadly but He delivers to me not only salvation from the result of sin but strength and grace to continue growing away from sinning.

:)

That's all any of us can do is to try to be better today than yesterday. Sometimes it's hard to see how much we change.

Agreed. Much of my change takes place in my head. Sometimes I  don't do something stupid because of that voice in my head is louder than my desire.

Carl, I'm with my friend. Different personal paths in our daily life, same destination.  :cooldude:
