I'm losing my mind

I stopped at one of our good groceries yesterday, and just picked up a few things.

Including 2 gals of milk.

I went to the basement fridge to get one and there's none in there.  WTF?

Not in the kitchen fridge.  Not left out in the back of the truck. 

Not in the freezers.   

Wegmans, has these smaller Hi-Lo carts which are easier to push around, and all you need for a dozen things.

All I can think of is I pushed it out to the truck, loaded the 2 small bags of things from the top and left the milk in the bottom bin.  And drove home.

You're not alone....I've FOUND carts in parking lots with several different items left in lower racks that people have forgotten to put in their vehicle.  Usually return it to the store to see if they hear from the purchaser.

That's kinda like what I have done a few times. At WallyWorld they pack your stuff in plastic bags on a large carousel. Now most of the cashiers spin the thing like Wheel of Fortune before you leave so you can see you have everything but invariably I seem to have a talent for leaving one last bag. More than once I've had to return looking for that lost bag. lol

Yeah, but I don't think they have a lost and found with milk.  Even unopened, I can't see them sticking it back in a cooler (liability issues).  

And I'm embarrassed to call about it.  

If I did leave it out there, it's another first.    

On the upside, I got my EZ pass at that grocery.  Reading up on it, VA cancels them if unused for 12 months, and I really only intend to use it once a year (going up and down the PA/OH turnpike to family).  I'm wondering if sticking $5 on it is considered activity?   I will not be intentionally getting in the perpetual DC metro-mess traffic jams just to show activity.  I'd rather shoot my foot.

I have to call to activate and have a list of questions.

My reading says I will save nearly 50% on PA tolls, and 30% on OH tolls.

Yes.  I'm always careful.  That carousel is packed with empties and it's hard to tell if you got everything.

Plus our VA County commies have added a nickle a bag tax (to save the planet from plastic), and people routinely tell the checkout clerk to load single bags with 100lbs, with comic results (to save a nickle).   

I've done my part to save the planet, and have about 500 of those bags in my basement (so I stopped saving the planet anymore).

Well they are equal opportunity commies, the nickle a bag is for paper or plastic.  The paper bags have gotten so flimsy, even the Walmart plastic ones are more reliable. 

We are getting our first 80* Saturday, so it's oil change and shine the bike day tomorrow for a nice Sat ride.

Well if the vendors can tell you on the checkout screen to check the bottom of the carts when checking out, you think they have a final reminder on the screen make sure check when you get to vehicle also.

Yeah, but most of us would forget by the time we reached our vehicle.  Maybe the cashier could tie a ribbon around our wrist? 

That would work unless you did self check out.

Heh, have done the opposite too.... Got to the car and found something in the cart under the bags I'd forgotten to scan.... Oopsie!

I used to get 4, but have cut down and too much spoils.

But I still drink it with all meals.  1-2% not whole.

And keep a case of water in the fridge.  Few beers, ice tea, juice, and bottle of Korbel's champagne has been in there for 15 years or so.  If you drop by you can drink it.

     I've found stuff on the ground and in the carts-outside-at wally wurld a couple times. I don't buy That much at wally wurld so the ww list is generally shorter than my Aldi list. And at Aldi usually can find cardboard boxes for my purchases As Aldi charges extry fer paper bags. Guess I'm a chepskate too!  Groceries cost too much as it is without the added exoense of buying bags. RIDE SAFE.

By all means call the store and ask if they found the milk in the cart. Common occurrence. If you're a regular there and the staff recognize you should be no hassle. We got those kind of carts at our local store and I've had an issue or two with them. You clear out the top basket and your mind sees it as being all out.

Most stores like you to bring the reusable bags, when I forget at Aldi, I just buy however many paper bags I think I need.

I keep 2 of the good sturdy Aldi bags in my truck.  I almost always have to go back and get one.

My Aldi has no bags at all.  You bring your own, buy theirs, or carry the stuff out in your arms (or your rented cart).

And I got the oil changed in bike #2, and took 8 quarts of used oil into the Autozone (first time for that).  Bought "Asian blend pink" 50/50 Peak coolant for the bikes.  I have no idea if color means anything, but my bikes have always had pink coolant in them.

It's never permanently lost Bruce, it just tends to wander off from time to time.  Pretty irritating too. 

Getting angry is no help, you have to laugh at yourself (laughter is the best medicine I know of).
