Hi - first... looks like a great update! 
Couple questions... Is there a function of emojis to like/laugh/cry or whatever on individual posts?

Also --- -are the bookmarks section gone? (if so, that hurts!)

I assume you found the emojis, since you used one. 
As far as the bookmarks, the add-on has not been updated in a very long time and doesn't work on the new forum. 
We hope to find a new add-on, but that's still pending.  If we do find one, any old bookmarks will be lost.

Like feature enabled... (Looks like it's just like nothing fancy beyond that but it's something)
The bookmarks will be a little trickier. I'll research it but likely will unfortunately lose previously saved bookmarks... but I'll do what I can. That mod hasn't been updated since 2012, but poking around to see if anyone made something that can scratch that itch.

(This is from a different author than the earlier one so I'd be surprised if it did.)

There's a little green heart under posts you can click to bookmark them.

Edit - Found some sql code that claims it imports the bookmarks from the old version to the new. Could anyone that had bookmarks before test and let me know?

Click on no alerts  or  emails
You will see  a prompt

Then   click on what you want...

I believe  that is  what you are asking about..
This way you can follow a thread ..

Email notifications were enabled, and the test message I sent myself came through.

If you're not getting it double check the e-mail address you have configured on your profile and (I know it's cliché) check your junk or spam folder...

I turned it on for myself for this post so we'll see if it's working for me at least once someone replies to this...

Yes that is exactly what I was asking about.  I had enabled "Receive emails and alerts" on this thread but hadn't received any email notifications.

Checked my profile email and it's correct.  No spam or trash in my email.  Receive email and alerts enabled on this thread.  So I guess if you receive an email notification from this post I need to look further.

Bookmarks works! Even carried over the old ones! Awesome! Yay!

I brought over a few of the old static links, they're under the "Home" button at the top, hover your mouse over it and it should pop up links to Homepage, Photostash, Shoptalk and Inzane...

The e-mail SMTP notifications are giving me fits. Basic mail functionality is tested and working but SMF isn't wanting to fire off a notification for message replies. Still researching and troubleshooting this issue.

As far as PhotoStash... we're still working on functionality.  Right now, you can log in and see your list of photos and link to them.  However, you can't add, edit, or delete any.  Unfortunately, our server dude (who's helping with recoding) left on Vacay today, so it's stuck as is until he returns. 

We were able to get the basic membership tools working (Join, Search, Edit).

I do see mail.valkyrieforum.com is on DRMX blacklist, so if that's the mail server that could be a problem.

Thanks for the heads up, I submitted a removal request to DRMX since we just acquired this IP recently.

I've read there's a known issue with forums that moved from the 1.x version to the current 2.1X version that if a user has whole board notifications turned on AND tries to get notifications for individual topics it just doesn't send any for either. I poked in your profile and saw you had notifications turned on for two forums, as a test I turned those off, let's see if my reply to this topic triggers a notification for you...

All the VRCC stuff is moved off of serk.net, that was just the temporary forum. It's running on its' own server valkyrieforum.com .

I did have to whitelist the from e-mail it's using for my personal Spamassassin to let it through. It's coming from our server but with a @gmail.com return address, that might also be tripping spam alerts.

If you can set up a whitelist set one for vrccstaff at gmail.com

Ah gotcha... Yeah, I'm getting it sent to my serk.net e-mail. I've got Spamassassin configured but that's not going to be as sophisticated as what Google's got I'm sure... (And even with Spamassassin I had to whitelist it.)

For testing purposes I switched it to my Gmail account, please reply to this and I'll see if it gets through to that one on my end too...

Here you go.  Just an fyi I'm watching my other mail acct that I just changed my forum profile to at att.net which is basically Yahoo mail but I haven't received anything there yet.

It appears being on the blacklist is the culprit...

Test message to my Gmail - Doesn't come through
Changed forum e-mail to a @valkyrieforum.com one so it doesn't trip "Says Gmail but isn't from Gmail" to my personal Gmail - still fail.

Switched my account back to my Serk.net e-mail that I've whitelisted it from - Success
Switched forum back to saying it's from the VRCC Staff @gmail even though it's starting on our server, sent to my serk.net - Success

I've submitted my appeal for the DRMX blacklist... hope they pay attention to it.

I don't think being removed from the DRMX blacklist is going to solve the mail issue.  I read Google & I assume other email providers require SPF records before delivering mail.  I think there are a few DNS configuration changes needed.  And possibly configuring TLS as it doesn't show being supported currently.  But I don't think that's the source of mail being dropped.

If you put in a request to the DNS admin to fix the SPF record, might as well have them fix all the configuration issues while they're at it.  That will eliminate any potential of DNS causing email drops and also help prevent us from being blacklisted in the future.  They probably wont quickly move the secondary to another subnet but it is best practice to have them on different trunks.

Great, I don't think the PTR record will matter regarding email delivery. I was hopeful that once the SPF record was created I'd start receiving email notifications but I haven't.  But last I looked the TTL was set for 24 hrs so it may just take a while to propogate.  Maybe tomorrow email notification will be flying.  It's been almost 20yrs since I managed DNS as well and I've forgotten 90% plus things have changed so I know the feeling.

I've not worked with SPF records before but you may need to change the Directive from "a" to "IP4" with the specific sending IP. If the email is configured to send from vrccstaff at gmail.com the receiving mail server may be trying to lookup the sending IP in gmail's zone which would fail since it's a spoofed email.

Google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 have propogated and show response for valkyrieforum's SPF record of "v=spf1 mx a -all" but still haven't received any email notifications.  Maybe reply to this thread to see if one goes through?  Or temporarily change the sending address to whatever at valkyrieforum.com and I'll let you know if I receive anything.

I don't think I'll receive anything in my gmail if the receiving mail server is looking up the source IP record in gmail zone due to the senders domain address. And if you updated the SPF record it will take awhile to propogate.  Re-read my previous post, not sure I explained well.
