@Serk

To try to clarify how I'm thinking about the SPF record as currently configured. "v=spf1 mx a -all"

The all
all    SPF record all means an SPF directive should always be applied

The a directive
a    Only apply the directive if the A or AAAA record of the queried or specified domain contains the sender's IP.
So if trying to send from whatever@gmail.com the receiving mail server will lookup the A record of gmail.com and try to find 198.96.95.230, obviously won't be there and be dropped.

The mx directive
mx    Only apply the directive if the MX record of the queried or specified domain contains the sender's IP.
Again the same thing if trying to spoof an email from gmail.com when the receiving mail server tries to look for the 198.96.95.230 address in the gmail zone it won't be there.

The mx record shows to be the same IP as that of the forum. So I think if you want to spoof sending an email from gmail.com perhaps the IP4 directive would work for receiving mail servers that require SPF, I don't see anything that would cause a drop if the sending IP and SPF were configured the same.  Maybe something similar to this v=spf1 ip4:198.96.95.230 -all

IP4 directive
ip4    The directive goes into effect, but only when the IP of sender matches a specific IPv4 address or subnet

I think the quickest test to see if Gmail servers are able to receive email would be to change the sending email address to whatever at valkyrieforum.com domain and using the existing SPF configuration... assuming Gmail has no other road blocks.

Configuration changed, mail now coming from vrccstaff at valkyrieforum.com
Test message sent and received for myself (To my serk.net, it did trip Spamassassin so had to dig it out of my junk folder.)

Will try my Gmail shortly.

Off topic nosey/curious - Being a fellow geek, and in Tulsa... You ever work for EDS/HPE/DXC?

Edit to add - Looks like Google still doesn't like us, test to my personal Gmail never showed up.

anywhere in your post @f6gal and it should alert you.

In the post, you just type @ then start typing the person's handle, a choice of possibilities will pop up to choose, or you can keep typing to narrow it down...

@f6gal

What I had as I was typing the above:

If you have notifications enabled for this website (On Chrome, click the little thing to the left of valkyrieforum.com in your URL bar at the top, and make sure "Notifications" is turned on) you'll get a system notification, like when you get a new e-mail or other things that you have notifications enabled for on your computer.

Ok, notifications on for this site.  Just testing.  Will it notify me, if I tag myself?

@f6gal Not sure, but I didn't get e-mail notifications if I replied to the thread, only if someone else did...

Ugh.  I have system notifications set to do not disturb.  I guess that will negate the tag notification.

So this is the 3rd time trying to quote and reply to this thread.  The first two just vanished.  I'm thinking someone else replied to the thread and I ignored the error msg but not sure.

I haven't received any email notifications either. :'(

But to answer your question yes I worked for EDS prior to HP taking them over.  We were outsourced to them after partnering with them for 10+ yrs prior.  But they didn't hire all the existing staff so the workload went through the roof and competence went way down when they tried to bring in temp contractors to cover the loss of staff.  Culture went down as well so ended up leaving.  Kinda kicked myself in the butt once I heard HP was taking them over but it all worked out for the best.

Noted the "Someone posted while you were writing your reply" error was easy to miss, but now I know to look for it and can just hit post button again after making sure the prior post didn't make mine useless....

Tulsa, plus competent IT person, thought the odds were high... :)
EDS->HP->HPE->DXC->Perspecta->Peraton, and 27 years later still riding that train. Worked with onsite personnel in Tulsa a lot when I was on the Sabre account.

Yea the error msg comes up below the visible portion of my screen so I'd have to scroll down to see it. Being in the habit of hitting back button I just probably never submitted it.

I think some of our group was transitioned to Sabre but not positive.  I was only ever on the DTAG acct responsible for the dot.com's.  I haven't really followed much or kept track but I think everything they had at the data center here went to Florida or elsewhere.  Not sure.

Fyi...  At least in the Greyed Out theme there is an option to select on warning when posts are made while composing.  Under Look & Layout.

Posting
Return to topics after posting by default
Don't warn on new replies made while posting.

Ok, I seem to either be blind, stupid or just plain ignorant.

I can bring the board up on my phone but lack the ability or whatever to go from one category to another.   IOWs, I don't see anything to click on to see another section like P&R or Classified Section.

What am I missing?

At the very top, select "Main Menu" then select "Home" to see all categories, Just like the old board.  :cooldude:

Or use "Jump To" pull-down menu.

On my phone, once I'm in one forum there's a bit up above there's "Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club -> General -> General Board" and I can tap on "General" to go back to the list of boards, then go into the one I want to view.

These methods work on my I-phone, However YMMV depending on
Phone brand. Pretty sure Serk runs another brand  :o

Not sure what is the make of Rams' flip phone or remedy needed

Thanks for the tips.
Thinking I may need to go back to a lap top.   Due to the previous tip am now able    : to move between sections but still haven't discovered where to click to start a new topic on my phone.

Anyone have a 5 year old available to train me?

Edited:   Found my answer!   My four year old grandson is wonderful,  I will leave it at that!

To ensure clarity, Serk may be immature but he is not my four year old grandson.  🫣.
