I realize this is a very location limited inquiry, but you never know until you ask. Are there any shops in the Lexington Kentucky area that will mount a car tire on a motorcycle rim?

GiG

Maybe a shop will be too hard to locate, but a member here
Might be willing to assist. There's guys in TN with tire machines
Who may be persuaded :-X Might cost a beer or 12, if they see

Thanks, I know a Goldwinger in Crossville that would do it and more but I'm up against the time crunch for Inzane even though I may not use it on that trip.

So I rolled the dice and went to Richmond Motorsport and talked to the service manager. Could have knocked me over with a feather when he said he would. I had used them on motorcycle tires before but never thought they were so open minded.

Glad you found someone to get it done... I've luckily found a mobile motorcycle mechanic near me that does it without any issues, even did it in my driveway for I think it was $20 extra...

Really frustrating how many places refuse to do it, but then again a lot of motorcycle shops refuse to mount a tire if you didn't buy it from them too...
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

I have had some problems in the past, all overcome with friends.
Two weeks ago I went to Big O Tires with the rim and a bag of beads and they said,"No problem."  I never had to say where it was going. They were unable to balance the tire is why I had the beads, not for trading. One never know until they ask.

My guy doesn't like beads! :tickedoff:

Glad you got it fixed!
Couple years ago I had an emergency in Indiana, needed a replacement rear tire. Bought a car snow tire at independent tire shop. They mounted with almost no questions asked and I was able to salvage my trip   :smitten:

Gig and the snow tire!  I remember that ordeal and following you to the tire shop. It served you well as I remember. :cooldude:

Got all my wheels lined up to go to the shop tomorrow. One rear wheel has a Bridgestone with zero miles on it but I want to rebalance it before heading out to Inzane. Another rear wheel has a wore out Bridgestone that I have a new Pirelli car tire to mount, but since I know they usually are hit or miss on tire pressures, I'll hold off and going darkside this trip. Finally I got another Bridgestone BT46 for the front so at some point I will be double darkside on the Wing.

Picked up my stuff this morning and just now got my beads put in the front tire, through the valve stem, :tickedoff: . But I'd rather put them in myself anyway, they sure can be contrary, it's not as easy as just pour them in. The rear tire I'm using this trip was already balanced but my second rear rim now has a new darkside tire that I will use beads to balance, but that will wait until after Inzane. All new brake pads as it turns out too. I was somewhat surprised by the condition of the pads as I hadn't really noticed any degradation in braking performance but they were done! I'm anxious to get everything back on the bike and try them out.

Hoping this monsoon season we have been experiencing is about over.
