Yesterday I watched my Valk going away.   A guy name John answered my Craigslist advertisement.  He was delighted to find her.  So, my Valk is now in the hands of a lot younger man and his wife.

First time that I heard her run as a person just standing there. I didn't realize how good she sounds.

I was pushed by family members to sell my Valk and get a lighter bike, due to medical problems that have developed over the last year. I will start looking for her replacement.

a 650 vstrom would be a nice replacement light and ultra reliable

Mine is currently for sale. Like you, I've decided to down-size. I picked up a '23 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster that is a few inches lower and half the weight of my I/S.
Good luck finding something you like and can deal with.

The seat height isn't the problem. Shoulders are going south on me.  It was getting where they wouldn't be happy for a day after riding.  Need something that requires less effort to enjoy riding.  Plus, I am pushing 80 in the next month or two. I know the age isn't really limiting my riding, but I also have issues with my heart.

I am looking for something a bit bigger than a 650 cc bike something closer to 1100 cc. I do ride on some highways where I need more speed. I do enjoy riding and want to continue to do so.

Oleman,
Same thing happened to me about an hour ago only it wasn't my Valk leaving me. I had traded the Valk back in '14 for an F6B. About 3 yrs ago I started feeling the size of the "B" increasing. Last week I made it known that I was ready to sell and now I am bikeless for the first time in 40+ yrs. The new owner is much younger than me and is a member of this group. I hope it serves him well. It only has 27.000 miles on it.
By the way, I also owned a 650 V-Strom and it will travel with the best of them. Highway speeds of 75 - 80 were no problem.
I'm not sure I will get another motorcycle, right now I am leaning toward "no". But ya never know.

I'm sure it was bittersweet seeing your Valkyrie go.  I'm in the same boat with health issues and am needing to do the same with both my girls. I say needing because I'm still trying to convince myself I want to let them go! Anyway congrats on the sale and best wishes to you.
Have you ever noticed when you're feeling really good,
