After a stormy start to this week, the weather cleared yesterday and it was a beautiful day for a ride. I planned a ride with Gary and we met at 10:00 at the new mega Mobile Station in Sterling. We were on our way shortly thereafter.

Our lunch destination was the General Store in Dublin, NH on route 101.

Neither of us had been there before. I checked out their Google reviews and learned that the store recently got new owners. These new owners claimed to have upped the store's lunch offering with varied sandwiches and occasionally BBQ. I got a chicken salad sandwich on sour dough bread. I think Gary had roast beef on a roll. My sandwich was good. I'd probably go back. I didn't see any BBQ on the menu that day. Next time I'll call and see what day they have BBQ. We finished lunch a little after noon and were on our way.

Gary nailed the Biker look. Me, not so much. ;D

Since the day was still young, we decided to ride west into VT. Neither of us had been to VT yet this season. We rode 101 W into Keene. From there we rode route 9 W into Brattleboro, VT. As many of you know, those are beautiful roads.

At the rotary we took route 5 S into downtown Brattleboro. From there, we took route 142 S along the Connecticut River to head to Northfield, MA. Route 142 is a fun and picturesque ride. It's got beautiful agricultural vista views as well as plenty of turns and ups and downs. We enjoyed it at a reasonable pace.

Route 142 ends at route 10 in Bernadston, MA. We took a left east to ride through a small slice of Gil and then to Northfield over the Connecticut River. We then took routes 63/10 N to the Northfield Creamery for a small dish of ice cream as we're both GW riders.  :D

While there two guys rode-in. One was riding a vintage Moto Guzzi and the other a 1999 Honda Sabre. It was in great shape with low mileage. We shot the breeze a while and were on our way.

We turned south for a short time on 63 and then turned left on to Maple Street. Maple Street turns into Gulf road and provides a fun twisty and hilly ride back to route 2 in Erving.

From Erving we rode route 2 east to 32 S to our normal final stop at the Country Store in Petersham, MA.

We took our final rest stop of the ride and I bought some local honey at a great price. From there we found our way home on familiar roads. It was a great day!
