Ok, we did this same trip in April of this year.  We like Beaufort.  But this time we spent two full days there and did one of the "Golf Cart" tours.  That tour was much better than I expected.  The lady that provided the information on what we were seeing and the history of Beaufort was very good and had the information we needed to hear.  It was well done. I would recommend that tour to anyone who wanted to see and know the history of this South Carolina city, and South Carolina.

We did one other "major" event and that was a trip to the U.S. Marine base at Paris Island to see the Paris Island Museum.  It was or is supported by the Paris Island Heritage Foundation.  It was a good visit. It was also basically an "on your own" tour.  Lots of information on the US Marines and their history.

One thing about the visit to Paris Island, we rode the Trike (our normal ride now for our travels) so I felt it was safe to wear tennis shoes for footwear.  It was warm, so I also wore a short sleeved shirt.  We we arrived at the gate for visitors we were told that we needed to have above the ankle shoes (or boots) and we had to wear long sleeved shirts that covered the wrists.  And you have have full face helmets.  Now, the first two things were ok.  The need for a full face helmet was sort of interesting since we were both wearing "convertible" helmets (Shark Evoline). We had them in the "up" position.

Anyway, we said "will do" and returned to the hotel to get our travel boots and long sleeved shirts.

We returned about 20 minutes later and had no problems entering since we were now "properly attired".  Finding the museum was ok.  No major markings on the roads but we found it.  Lots of information in the museum.  Almost too much to handle in one visit. But I would visit again just to learn a little more.  Dad served in the US Marines in WWII as a fighter pilot. He was stationed in Hawaii.  Have some neat movies (he was very interested in cameras) of his times there.  And he never mentioned anything about his time there.  But he was a qualified pilot for fighter aircraft.

We also visited Hunting Island.  We went there to see if it would be a good place to go on our next visit. The trip there was uneventful and we just rode around the road on the island.  It was a little different in that the road was well "shielded" by small trees and bushes.  It was like you were riding through the woods on your way to the shore line.  We will see it again on our next trip.

Travel down was via non-interstate highways.  Scenery was nice but the roadways in South Carolina are in very bad shape.  Not just potholes (of which there are some) but the "tar snakes" that cover many of the roadways really make the front my trike shudder.  It is just awful.  I don't think that would have been the case 20 years ago.

So, 160 miles down and 160 miles back and about 3.5 hours of travel each way.  Some videos below of our travel.  Did not take many other pictures.

Love the videos, but my favorite was the second one where you're riding through the town. I've been a huge fan of Spanish moss for as long as I can remember and seeing all of it dangling from the trees kinda makes me a bit jealous but it's beautiful.

Hope things are going well with the trike and operating it is becoming more normal.
