Had a little vistor this evening

had this little guy in the back yard this eve trying to get to my feeders like he did 2 nights ago,he's only 2 year old and this year momma threw him out so he's fending for himself.
He climbs the tree where my feeders are and pulls on the yellow rope in the pic and down they come.Going to have a bear hunt this year in Jersey i think so he might be on borrowed time come fall.These pics were about 10 feet away and he started snorting and huffing so i backed off and away he went.

I agree, if you want to save him, every time you see him inflict a little pain and make sure he sees you, loud noise also helps.

As a "city boy",  an encounter like that is really something special.  I crossed paths with one of a similar size and one even larger on the BRP.  Blew me away...   since before that,  the only time I'd seen a bear was at the zoo.
I think Jabba hit it dead on...  anything less than driving him away will only guarantee things will end badly for him.

A co-worker of mine  is a avid hog / bear hunter he has more money tied up in his dogs than some have in a home     I went to a cook-out he had several years ago and he had black bear , wild hog and goat on the grill. The hog and goat was outstanding the bear was nasty IMO but other folks was tearin' it up and claimed they liked it " OK "  I'm pretty sure those that liked the bear was smokin' dope and just had the munchie's

Good pics Robin. 
I was on my home from a morning walk last July when a big ole black bear came outa the woods about 25 yds in front of me and ambled across the road. I know black bear are shy of humans but its hard to believe that when you see one twice your size and he's that close. One of my neighbors who hunts bear said that was a 450 pounder they had been after.

Dam Bears!  I'm with Jabba on this.  Call your local Department of Natural Resources and have them capture and remove the little guy.  He's to small to shoot anyway.

I live in the North West part New Jersey up against the Appalachian Trail pretty much woods and farms and i don't mind them coming around never did me any harm other than tear the bird feeders down and kill my dog a few years back had cubs with her the dog was no match for that mother.My 2 sons used the paint ball them when they were little pretty pink dots.

That's one reason I carry a Gun for defense when on a motorcycle.

Let's just say we all ride by ourselves from time to time.

ANd you fall down off your MotorPooter and you break a leg and you are in a ravine and no cell

phone coverage.

Did not file a flight plan either. They don't even miss you till 11 PM.

Laying there by your lonesome with a broken limb. If the shock don't kill you then Mr. Hungry Bear

comes along, or mister Wil E Coyote ambles on by smells the blood or feces you just let go.

A gun would come in mighty handy.

Just might make the diff of the Bear eating you or the Coyote having lunch on you.

When out on my own a pack of matches or windproof lighter ain't bad either , because you could start a signal fire or at least keep the wild thingies at bay till you are rescueed.

I carry in my first aid kit a aluminum blanket , like aluminum fiol basically to help wiht shock victims if encoutered or you become one.

Little things make all the difference.

Like on your cell phone list ICOE to let them know who to call.



And you get all this free of charge , listening to Big Al Ramble.

Oh yeah and great Bear pics.

In the Graet Smoky Mountains the Cades Cove is beautiful.

But let a young bear of anysize get near the road and thewhole thing becomes a parking lot.

Watched some woman get right under a Bear ina Tree taking pics.

I asked them what are you going to do when that Bear comes down outa that tree.

They had not a clue the Danger they were possibly in.

Just like an amusement park to them.
