Is anyone else suffering from glare off the gas filler and cap?

This might sound inconsequential to most folks, but I'm in south Florida and am out on the bike for a week or two at a time a few times a year and the glare from the gas cap is killing me. The curvature from the cap keeps the glare moving as the sun moves. Has anyone else figured a way around this other than to paint it or scuff the chrome? Tank bibs won't work and I have not found any type of flap to work. HHMMM?

My tank bib has a flap that covers the gas cap. Got it as a gift and I really don't remember the manufacture. I will try and check to-night and see if there is a tag or something with the manufactures name.

Yup. Here in SUNNY Tucson,two dorrs northahell, I get to get blinded often.
I'm thinkin about "dulling" it like a fighter plane somehow. A brushed look perhaps.

A quick fix, get one of those leather bag things that look like a fanny pack but have magnets on the ends.  Stick it on the tank over the cap.  I got one for about $15.00.

I don't know if you have a tank bibb or not, but what I do in that situation is take a bandanna and cover the gas filler and cap with it, stuffing it under the tank bibb to hold it in place.  Works good enough to get me through the situation until the glare ends.

in 13 years ....riding almost year round in Alabama....i've NEVER had an issue with my Valk and glare from the tank/cap. BUT....on Sherry's Valk....i will admit that on SOME days....when riding with my back to the sun....at just the right angle....with her new stainless steel tank bib....IN CERTAIN INSTANCES....yes, there is a noticeable amount of glare. I'll admit if you were on a long ride....going ONE direction.....with THAT glare...it would get REAL old! Thankfully it only comes up when the sun is in a certain angle in relation to the tank/cap.

again, on my "stock" tank/cap....it's NEVER been an issue.........

Much appreciate all comments and no offense taken / brain fade / never thought to search / fanny pack thing sounds promising / was looking at a tank bib from bikebandit on sale / have a small hiking fanny pack that I left in TN with 2 water bottle slots / might just do the trick / will pick it up next time I'm there / be well

Bonnie bought me one of those things (I would never buy it myself) and it totally blocks the sun and holds visine, and such right in front of me, even holds the ipod

I try very hard to keep it shiney     shiney chrome never botheres me.....I never remember noticing glare off the gas cap until someone on here mentioned it......after that I was looking for it, and low and behold there it was glaring against the windshield plain as day....then my attention went back to the road where it belonged and I havent been bothered by it again

It drove me crazy when I had an OEM windshield. It displayed (well... jumped around) right where I looked through the shield. Under certain conditions it was impossible
to ignore and very distracting. Maybe several combinations of how tall you are, how you sit, height/angle of shield and ... ? have to all align for it to be a problem.

But when it is a problem, it is a problem.

Try this guy. I talked to him right after he came on board as a sponsor. He said he would make me a tank bib with a flap just like what you're needing. Forgot the price. Give him a call.
