Marlinton Motor Inn ....Nice motel with park at your door it has a resturant on site and the roads are awesome in that area...We attended the VOAI Rally last year there and had a great time...Fact is the ride Don ( Highbinder ) and I put on every June will be in Marlinton next year.

I agree with Joe on the Marlinton area. I spent a week there a couple of years ago & not a bad road to be found. For a truly unique lodging experience, try the Old Clark Inn. Motorcycle friendly with covered parking, wash area, and the owner of the Inn is a rider.    www.oldclarkinn.com/

I was trying to find the name of this nice place next to a creek flowing over a lot rocks - I'm begining to think I was dreaming  ??? Jan always found this place  :-\  southern end of West Va some place, been doing a search but no luck - probably closed  :-[

I can think of a lot of good roads in West Va, Rt 20 good all the way and Rt 16 is another good one, 219 by Snow Shoe is good, 250 down from Wheeling is another fun road.

Elkins & Buckhannaon had some nice hotels at one time  :D

Drop me a line while you are down and maybe we can do some riding.

Rt 19 over to New River Gorge bridge and then down Rt 61 to Charleston is a nice ride.

Depending on where you enter the state, there are several nice roads here.

If you com in over near Charlestown/Harpers Ferry, you can ride Rt 50 which is a very nice ride.

Thanks Guys, I know the VOAI had its ride there last year but sorry I couldn't get off from work.  I will be coming down from northeast Pennsylvina not sure if we will do 81 down to WV or not depending how much my wife complains about the highway. Can't wait.  I seem to remember seeing maps indicating the rides from last years VOAI ride does anyone have a copy of those rides?  Should I ride part of skyline?   As I said I only have 2-3 days  Thanks again

I live in No Virginia, but ride over into WVa all the time.  Just took Rt 50 West to 219 south to Rt 33 East yesterday.  Shoot me a message when you are coming down, and we can hook up for part of your ride.

Edit:  If you've never been on Skyline Dr.,  I'd do so at least once.  I suggest you take I-81 South to Front Royal VA and take Skyline Dr south a couple exits on your way down... then head West into WVa.  Again, message me when you are coming down and I'll meet with you in Front Royal.

Thanks I will contact you a few days before. We are shooting for Sunday 8-1-2010 :cooldude:

Hey Hotrodwing, what area and time frame are you looking at riding? We live in Winchester, Va and know a few routes in the area. If we can we could hook up (time permitting). Maybe afterwards grill some cows or brats..... :cooldude:
Send me a message and I will send you my phone numbers.

I and my wife attended the VOAI Rally in Marlinton last summer, too. The hotel Joe mentioned is good enough and the roads in the area are incredible. I don't think there is more than a half-mile stretch of straight road in the area.

The restaurants, on the other hand, are absolutely terrible in the area. We couldn't get a decent meal anywhere, just lots of cafeteria-like food.
When in doubt, ride.

40 miles south on 215 is Lewisburg... very good places to eat there... General Lewis is a good place to stay... there's "regular" hotels and
Cracker-Barrel-like places in Lewisburg on the side that touches I64, Lewisburg has it all. Irish Stew and a glass of guinness draught at
Patrick O'Flaherty's Irish Pub is beyond awesome...

Here's the General Lewis:

I burned thru WV on RT 64 about 7 weeks ago on my way home from Richmond Va.

I stopped at the Hooters in Barboursville WV, and I want to know what they put in the water in THAT town!  Holy crap on a cracker!!  The talent there was notable.
